New Storm Scout rifle details leaked through Fortnite data mining

Storm stragglers in Fortnite may soon find it even more difficult to survive. Data miners have uncovered an exotic new sniper rifle that could spoil their storm-exploring fun.

Evidence of this “Storm Scout” sniper rifle exists within the game files for Fortnite Patch 9.40.

There was no available description for the new rifle’s capabilities, but there is early speculation that the sniper rifle will make it easier to look into the incoming storm. The item would be the latest of developer Epic’s continuing answers to those who like to use the early storm levels to hide in plain sight.

Players may soon see both Epic and Legendary versions of the rifle, according to the leak. Some of the rifle’s potential attributes have also been made available. The Storm Scout can store six rounds in each clip, tops out at 85 damage per shot, and has a reload speed of 2.7 seconds.

The 3D model for the new sniper rifle certainly looks intimidating. It’s hard to miss the massive optics sitting atop the carbon killing machine and the beefy stock out back.

Elsewhere, a leaked minimap gives us a sneak peek at how the Pressure Plant area may change after the robot is complete. It seems whoever is making this thing has plans to restore the ground and build a modest facility in the area where the clunker used to sit.

For those not in the know, the next Fortnite phenomenon might be a battle between that robot and a sea monster that escaped from an iceberg prison. The two may leave some destruction in their path, though the minimap mentioned above showed only minor changes compared to Pressure Plant’s overhaul.

It looks like Fortnite will also get dressed up for the World Cup tournament. Epic will include new skins and items, transform the battle bus, and have various themed loading screens for the event.
