Team Liquid is back in the win column.

Following an upset defeat at the hands of Cloud9, the Spring champions took down 100 Thieves. The win was a much-needed one, as it keeps Liquid in the hunt for first place in the LCS.

The LCS is currently playing on Patch 9.12, so Team Liquid took the chance to play Sona and Taric in the bottom lane. 100 Thieves opted for a composition with enough burst damage to counter Sona’s sustain.

100 Thieves tried to take advantage of Sona’s weakness in the early game. Jungler Maurice “Amazing” Stückenschneider visited the bottom lane but walked away empty-handed. The second time, Team Liquid was ready to counter and turn the play in their favor.

From that point on, 100 Thieves focused on pressuring turrets. Team Liquid grouped and forced fights, with their chain crowd control proving to be enough to get ahead in the game.

100 Thieves didn’t lose their patience and waited for the right fight. The team turned three kills into two turrets in the mid lane. Top laner Aaron “FakeGod” Lee provided item upgrades for his teammates with Bae “Bang” Jun-sik reaping the rewards on Xayah.

The burst damage from 100 Thieves was too much for Sona and Taric, allowing 100 Thieves to secure a baron buff that got them back in the game.

Around 35 minutes, the players reached their item breaking points and traded evenly. The teams danced around the baron buff for several minutes. 100 Thieves moved to the mid lane and rushed the turret.

Team Liquid chased them and 100 Thieves ran away to the dragon pit. Amazing had second thoughts and turned around trying to catch Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng. The entire Team Liquid squad collapsed on him.

This misplay gave Team Liquid control over the dragon pit where the elder dragon spawned. With four dragons in their pocket, the elder was the final piece in Team Liquid’s puzzle.

Jake “Xmithie” Puchero secured the dragon for his team and Team Liquid chased the thieves into their base. Team Liquid melted the structures and snatched the win.

With that, Liquid is kept their spot in a three-way tie in first place with Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming. 100 Thieves is tied in eight with FlyQuest.
