Talented American jungler Mike “MikeYeung” Yeung is back in the LCS after making a surprise move to Echo Fox from Team Liquid Academy. The announcement came in an entertaining video in which Mike is unveiled from a cardboard box simply labelled as merchandise.

In a statement from Team Liquid, the esports organization thanked MikeYeung for his hard work.

Thanks for the hard work, dedication, and all the laughs Mike. Good luck and have fun on Echo Fox,” the statement said.

Mike echoed the sentiment in his own statement in which he thanked the team for some good memories.

“Shoutout to the TLA boys It was so much fun playing together some really great memories, so awesome to play on a team with all your friends!” MikeYeung said.

MikeYeung began his professional career as part of the Phoenix1 lineup, winning himself the Rookie of the Split award in the 2017 NA LCS summer. He joined TSM and failed to achieve consistent standards on the rift, and after a disappointing split he was placed on the academy team and then joined Team Liquid’s academy in the 2018 offseason.

Mikeyeung will join teammates Colin “Solo” Earnest, Kim “Fenix” Jae-hun, Lawrence “Lost” Hui, Apollo “Apollo” Price and Nicholas “Hakuho” Surgent to complete the Echo Fox roster.

The change could come as a boost to Echo Fox, who are currently ranked ninth of ten teams in the LCS standings with jungler being a position that some have identified as a weakness. As former jungler Lee “Rush” Yoon-jae now becomes a free agent, it is expected that MikeYeung will take the position as starting jungler for the organisation.

It may be too much to expect one player to change the fortunes of an entire team, but for Mikeyeung, this new chance to build on his LCS experience and perform at a high level could start shifting his career back in the right direction.

In the upcoming week of the LCS, Echo Fox will face FlyQuest and Golden Guardians.
