Popular Fortnite YouTuber taking a break, announces going blind
With over 59,000 subscribers on YouTube, Fortnite content creator Flamm has made a name for himself with informative weapon breakdown videos. He was the guy responsible for creating the custom cross hair before Epic banned it.
But Flamm is done making videos for now, despite the growth of his YouTube channel.
According to a recent YouTube post, Flamm's "time with Fortnite has come to an end." Over the last month, the popular YouTuber had been getting eye tests, and finally found out he has Retinitis Pigmentosa. His eyesight is regressing every day, and there's a likely possibility it will result in him becoming completely blind.
"I do genuinely enjoy the content I make, but it's simply something I'm no longer able to do," Flamm said.
Despite the grim diagnosis, Flamm told his fans that he would be back on YouTube eventually, once he gets his "life sorted out."
Just a day after the announcement, Flamm was flooded with support from the YouTube community. Over 200 of his fans responded to his news, offering words of encouragement and expressing their sadness.
"You were the best at breaking down guns and I always checked your channel when a new one came out," wrote one fan. "This feels unreal to me so I can't even begin to imagine how it feels for you. Blind or not, you are who you are and you are loved for being you. If you ever decide to come back, we'll welcome you with open arms."
Other fans suggested he start a podcast instead, so he could still create content about Fortnite without the need for videos.
Flamm's YouTube channel currently has 65 Fortnite videos, most of which go into a deep dive discussion on a particular weapon of choice. His most popular video is titled, "Why I Use ESDF Over WASD." It has over 1.4 million views. He's only had the channel for a year.
