Maikelele looks for money on social media, gets NASA and Elon Musk

George G. June 27, 2019

Ex-Ninjas in Pyjamas star Mikail “Maikelele” Bill asked his followers on Twitter to help him find a new sponsorship in order for his team, NoChance, to afford flights and have a bootcamp.

NoChance will be competing in the European Minor for qualification to the StarLadder Major 2019 on July 17. Maikelele is famed as a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive professional for his prior tenures with NiP, Kinguin, G2 Esports, and FaZe Clan, respectively. His having to take to Twitter in order to ask for sponsorships suggests the informality of current organization NoChance.

On June 26, Maikelele asked his followers to comment if they could help out his latest team. Of course, this led to a flurry of replies tagging Elon Musk and NASA.

The reason for this is because Maikelele has had a history of refusing to believe information from famed space agencies. For example, he referred to the first photographic image of a black hole with a decided lack of enthusiasm.

“Biggest clickbait and shit talk ever made!” Maikelele said.

In a response to a since deleted tweet, Maikelele also claimed to believe that “most things” regarding our understanding of outer space are false.

CS:GO observer David “prius” Kuntz took this opportunity to ask NASA and SpaceX for help. Both of which are known for their space exploration and aerospace research.

Due to his disbelief of certain scientific theories, some have also accused Maikelele of believing the Flat Earth hypothesis. This states the conception of the Earth as a flat disc, rather than a sphere. The idea of Flat Earth is controversial as it goes against years of scientific evidence showing the Earth to be spherically shaped, much like all of the other observable planets.

The next day, facing increasing ridicule from fans and others in the industry, Maikelele clarified that he does not currently believe in Flat Earth theory.

While fans on social media were having a bit of fun with Maikelele, his team’s need for help was very real.

Maikelele’s team has been performing with relative consistency against some good opposition. NoChance beat the likes of Windigo, Heroic, and Virtus.pro to make it to the European Minor ahead of the Starladder Major. NoChance has had fairly mixed results, but the team has proven capable of beating strong teams, even if they are just as capable of losing to them.

If Maikelele and his team manage to find a sponsorship for NoChance then it will certainly boost their ability to play at a high level, as they will receive funding and a proper bootcamp. This could mean that Nochance may be a great underdog pick going into the Minor. The team has real winners on the roster, including former mousesports player Martin “STYKO” Styk and Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend.

Although still considered by many to be a top player, Maikelele has had a declining form since his return to NiP in 2016. He then played under Dignitas for a short while. After, he moved to Red Reserve, with his tenure there ending in 2017.

NoChance will also be taking part in the UCC Summer Smash on May 6.
