FILA sponsors Counter Logic Gaming ahead of Fortnite World Cup
Counter Logic Gaming has announced FILA as the apparel partner for its Fortnite squad.
CLG’s Fortnite team will show up at the 2019 Fortnite World Cup with a new look. Starting in July, the players will wear apparel provided exclusively by FILA.
This is the first time FILA has closed a partnership deal with an esports organization. As the industry evolves, more brands are looking to get involved and capitalize on the seemingly ever-growing audience.
In China, Nike signed a deal with the LPL and featured Jian "Uzi" Zi-Hao in a promotional image. In North America, Puma recently entered into a multi-year deal with Cloud9.
Now, FILA is joining the ranks of companies sponsoring esports organizations. The deal includes the integration of FILA’s brand into the social media and Twitch streams of the contracted players.
The CLG Fortnite team is receiving support from a variety of sources. In February, CLG announced online retailer Newegg as the presenting partner for the squad.
“The partnership with Counter Logic Gaming allows us to connect with a community of incredibly loyal fans, participate in an epic esports event like the Fortnite World Cup,” said Kelly Funke, FILA North America’s senior vice president of marketing.
The Fortnite World Cup is a highly anticipated event that is already catching the attention of esports enthusiasts. The best players in the world secured their spots at the event through weeks of fierce competition.
Harrison “psalm” Chang will be representing CLG in the solo event. Psalm earned his place at the event during week three of the qualifiers.
At the Fortnite World Cup finals, psalm will face Celebrity Pro-Am winner Karim “Airwaks” Benghalia. The list of competitors also includes Ghost Gaming Aydan “Aydan” Conrad, FaZe Clan Turner "Tfue" Tenney, and many more.
The Fortnite World Cup starts on July 26 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center's Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. Tickets for the event are available now.
