The CIS region was already set to be a competitive one, and it’s about to get even tougher.

Longtime Virtus.Pro support player Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk announced the formation of new team Odium. The full roster was revealed on Twitter.

Most members of the new Odium squad are established veterans of the CIS scene.

Victor “GeneRaL” Nigrini joins Lil in departing Natus Vincere following two years with the team, a run which saw him perform ably, albeit for a struggling side. Andrey “Ghostik” Kadyk emerges to play in the offlane following the disbanding of Team Empire. Finally, Semion “CemaTheSlayer” Krivulya joins after parting ways with Vega Squadron, a team he had captained for four years.

The sole rookie on the team is carry player and Ukrainian pub star Alik “V-Tune” Vorobey.

This could be the most intriguing new team to come out of the post-TI8 roster shuffle. Bringing together four recognizable names who have had success with major CIS organizations, it already stands as a legitimate contender and a potential favorite to earn a spot in the upcoming Kuala Lumpur Major.

Chemistry is critical in Dota 2 and plenty of talent-rich teams have struggled to live up to their potential in the past. Though Odium looks amazing on paper, fans won’t get a real read on its ability before seeing it in action.

That said, there is a lot to like about this team, given fans a reason to tune in when they begin competing in upcoming qualifiers.
