Clutch Gaming part with Head Coach

Clutch Gaming is parting ways with head coach David Lim, the organization has announced through a press release.

Clutch Gaming finished the Spring Split in fourth place, but failed to find similar success in the summer. The changes in the meta didn’t favor AD Carry Apollo "Apollo" Price, the player widely considered the key to the team’s success.

According to the press release, assistant coach Anand “Curry” Agarwal was appointed as interim head coach for the remaining of the season. The change comes before week seven when Clutch Gaming is set to face Cloud9 and OpTic Gaming, two of the strongest teams in the league.

“Even though we’ve had a slow start to the split, I’m confident in our team’s ability to improve. I hope you guys [the fans] continue to support us as we push for playoffs and beyond. I look forward to the challenge ahead,” Agarwal said.

In order to qualify for playoffs, Clutch Gaming must win every single match remaining.

In week 6, Clutch Gaming tried a different roster with Galen “Moon” Holgate as jungler, Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin as ADC and Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme in the support role. The academy players couldn’t find a victory against two strong opponents, 100 Thieves and Team Liquid.

The organization didn’t clarify if Agarwal will remain as head coach in 2019.

Clutch Gaming is not the only team with a new coach, as Echo Fox parted ways with Nick “Inero” Smith. The changes in the team’s coaching staff were expected due to poor results.
