Cloud9 place roots in Brazil with all-Brazilian Apex Legends team
Cloud9 has signed an all-Brazilian Apex Legends roster. The organization shared the announcement through Twitter.
Apex Legends is one of the hottest competitive titles of the year so far. The game was released in February without any prior marketing or promotion. It immediately became one of the most streamed games on Twitch, and that popularity attracted the attention of the professional teams and organizations.
Teams including 100 Thieves, Team Liquid, SK Telecom T1, and G2 Esports have already announced Apex Legends rosters. Cloud9 joined the recent furvor with its first-ever all-Brazilian roster. Nino “ninexT” Pavolini, Gabriel “isno” Ceregatto, and Vinícius “noted” Mancinni are the three players joining Cloud9’s Apex Legends team.
Isno is a former Overwatch player, while noted and ninexT both played Rainbow Six: Siege. NinexT also played PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for Luminosity Gaming in Brazil.
This isn’t the first Brazilian signing for Cloud9 this year, as back in February Cloud9 signed League of Legends top laner Flávio “Jukes” Fernandes.
NinexT, isno, and noted make up the second Apex Legends roster for Cloud9. The organization previously announced a North American roster that is currently competing at the Strong Esports 2k Invitational organized by Strong Esports and GamerzArena.
Cloud9 now joins a growing list of North American esports organizations with a presence in Brazil. The largest country in South America has one of the biggest esports scenes in the world, with highly competitive tournaments and a number of successfully exported teams and players across a variety of games.
While the Apex Legends competitive scene is still new, Brazil could become one of the first markets to fully embrace the game. Battle royale titles are popular in South America, and Fortnite developer Epic Games recently announced a partnership with the Brasil Game Show, the biggest game show in Latin America.
