Former Team Liquid coach Heen joins up with TNC Predator
Lee "Heen" Seung Gon is popularly known for coaching Team Liquid for more than two years. Team Liquid had found several tournament successes under his guidance since his joining in 2016.
His coaching for Team Liquid debuted at The Manila Major 2016 where the team took second place behind OG. From there, Liquid found its stride and started to become regular tournament favorites.
In 2017, Team Liquid dominated several tournaments and won numerous championship titles under Heen’s guidance. Some of these tournaments included EPICENTER 2017, StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 3, and AMD SAPPHIRE Dota PIT League.
Heen also coached the team during The International 2017. There, Team Liquid took home the $10.8 million prize for its first-place finish. Liquid was also immortalized in-game as the name of its players was etched into the Aegis of Champions.
TNC Predator has had numerous roster changes this year. The team is struggling to find their stride after the involvement of Carlo "Kuku" Palad in a racial slur controversy, which led to prolonged discord in the lineup.
The team started the current DPC rankings in a good position. With its fifth-place finish at the Kuala Lumpur Major, TNC held one of the higher initial rankings in the standings.
Currently, TNC Predator is in tenth place. Only top 12 teams will get a direct invite to The International 2019 at the conclusion of the latest Dota Pro Circuit.
The team failed to qualify for the next major tournament, MDL Disneyland Paris Major. If teams with lower ranks made a good run in Paris, TNC Predator could be bumped off the list.
Heen’s guidance will be a great help to TNC Predator to start making deep runs again and better contend with the best teams in the Southeast Asia region.
Heen will coach TNC Predator as they take part in the upcoming ESL One Birmingham 2019 tournament with its $300,000 prize pool.
