Michael “shroud” Grzesiek is fed up with Apex Legends.

The world’s most popular streamer suggested that he is going to call it quits on the battle royale game during a recent broadcast. The frustration stems from the game’s frequently laggy servers, which makes the game run at a slower speed. Shortly after making the bold statement, Shroud once again found himself playing in slow motion.

Though Shroud may or may not go through with this, he wouldn’t be the first streamer to check out on the game.

Apex Legends appeared out of nowhere in February and quickly became one of the most popular games in the world, with a player base ballooning to 50 million within its first month. A large part of this was due to streamers quickly adopting the title. Shroud, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, and others were paid significant sums of cash by Apex Legends publisher EA Games to show the new title off to their audiences.

As time went on, many of those streamers returned to their usual games, with the Fortnite World Cup’s massive prize pool bringing back many that helped build Apex Legends up early on. This caused a significant decline in the game’s overall Twitch viewership.

Fortnite eventually returned to its long-held top spot and esports staples like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive now often boast stronger followings than Apex Legends.

Shroud also got away from playing Apex Legends, bouncing around a number of different games in recent weeks. Though he still plays Apex Legends on occasion, he acknowledged that one big update might be enough to lure him and many others back on a more permanent basis.

If he does move on from the game, Shroud isn’t going to get back to his roots and return to CS:GO full-time. He instead cited PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds as a likely landing spot, saying that the game is “in a really good state right now.”

If Shroud goes through with this and gets out of Apex Legends it would be a hard hit to the game’s already flimsy social media presence. It would hurt lose one of the most popular figures on Twitch right now, and that should make Shroud’s upcoming streams quite interesting to watch.
