100 Thieves' Ryoma: "We need to start punishing mistakes more"
100 Thieves dominated Immortals on Sunday, its second win of the weekend.
This saw the team jump from seventh place in the LCS standings all the way up to fourth.
Despite going 2-0, the team was hard on itself, and focused on mistakes. Tommy “Ryoma” Le told WIN.gg what it would take to finally satisfy the team that keeps chasing perfection in the 2020 LCS Spring Split.
How are you feeling after your wins this weekend?
Ryoma: Yesterday’s win [against Dignitas] didn’t feel that good because we were losing most of the game, but we learned a lot from it.
We learned the way to handle situations. It helped us today. We improved from that. It feels really good to have the wins. The 2-0 feels really good, but we want to make sure we don’t make the same mistakes next week.
What are some mistakes you made that stood out to you?
For me, it was the time I was playing against Dignitas. I thought my laning phase was really good, that I was positioned to carry the game, but I didn’t carry. I was a little disappointed in myself there. My first round of the laning phase was really good but I didn’t use it really well so we didn’t get to use that to our advantage.
So what is your goal right now moving forward?
Making sure we make playoffs and keep improving as a team. Making sure everyone stays focused. It’s not the end right now. We need to keep giving it our all.
What team are you looking forward to facing?
No team in particular. Probably Cloud9 since they’re the best team, but they’re a hard team to beat.
What would it take?
They’re a really aggressive team. They play to their limits really well. If we can match that it could go well I think.
Do you feel your team has been improving throughout the Spring Split?
We’ve been improving week to week. When we have things we focus on, we do achieve them. We just need to make sure we’re utilizing what we learn from our coaching staff. There were a lot of things we could have punished today that we didn’t.
Why try in the Spring Split when it’s not really worth as much this year?
I don’t know how I feel about that. Every week for me just matters so much. I go week by week.
Pretty much, we want to make sure we’re good as individuals. Other teams are trying as well. Even though Spring doesn’t matter, it means a lot to win. It’s good to have a good showing and do your best.
What will it take to get to playoffs?
Well, we’re working well as a team now. We know what we want from each other. It’s just about making sure we execute it. We need to use set ups to our advantage and make sure we punish the other teams. We need to make sure we punish mistakes.
