Fans were overjoyed when Riot added its newest Initator agent Tejo in January and were in for another surprise. In the same month, fans noticed a mysterious figure in the background of Valorant’s loading screen. Leakers also alleged that another agent would soon join Valorant’s roster. This was an unexpected move as Tejo was already a fresh addition, but fans still wondered what Riot had planned.
Multiple leaks hinted at the role of Valorant’s agent 28 in the game. Riot released official teasers and announced the new female agent would be revealed during the show match during the Masters Bangkok grand finals broadcast. On March 2, new agent Waylay was unveiled for all to see, and here her abilities, kit, and intended role are explained.
DAWN BREAKS // Waylay Agent Trailer – VALORANT
Players will be able to play as Valorant’s newest agent, Waylay, when the Season 2025 Act 2 begins on March 5.
Waylay is a Thai agent who came to the team’s aid at the call of Tejo. She has a holographic color scheme that highlights her tremendous speed. The agent appears clad in a yellow and black tactical suit at first glimpse. Waylay’s abilities were showcased in the stream, and her kit uses a new debuff called hindrance that slows down other agents in a variety of ways.
The debuff affects equip time, fire rate, jump speed, movement speed, recoil recovery, and reload speed. This debuff, paired with the agent’s quick speed, could make her very powerful in her offensive and aggressive role as a new Duelist.
Waylay’s official reveal showcases the agent’s role as the team’s Duelist who relies on her speed and abilities to take down opponents.
Similar to other agents, Waylay also has three core abilities:
Waylay’s ultimate, Convergent Paths, also relies on light and speed. Using her ultimate ability, she equips and fires a beam that expands. Waylay gains a powerful speed boost, and as the beam expands, other players suffer the hinder debuff. There is a slight delay before the speed boost is applied to Waylay.
