N0tail Net Worth: An Incredible Dota 2 career leading to massive value

Johan “N0tail” Sundstein is not only the richest Dota 2 player of all time by event prize winnings, he’s also the top-earning esports competitor of all time in terms of tournament winnings, but what’s actually N0tail net worth at this point?

In most major esports titles, pinning down a competitor’s net worth can be difficult. Many big names have several diverse streams of income that include tournament winnings, streaming revenue, sponsorships, and base salaries paid out by esports organizations. But that’s not always the case in Dota 2, where things can be far simpler.

While there are some notable Dota 2 streamers such as Topson and Arteezy who have also played at the game’s top levels, most active pro players focus all of their efforts on competing. In some cases, elite Dota 2 teams don’t have major sponsors, or they otherwise separate themselves from larger esports organizations that can pay out significant base salaries. That’s the case with N0tail, who has spent the bulk of his career with OG and built his net worth through winning some of the biggest tournaments in esports history.

What is N0tail’s net worth in 2026?

N0tail’s net worth is estimated to be set somewhere between $7 million and $10 million. The vast majority of this money came from Dota 2 prize pool earnings during his time with OG.

In terms of prize pool winnings, N0tail is actually the top earner across all of esports.  He earned over $7.1 million in prize pool winnings during his career in total, largely stemming from OG’s run from 2015 to 2019. This stretch included four Dota 2 major championships, as well as two The International championships, and these were some of the biggest tournaments ever given odds across esportsbooks.

Those prize winnings are very easy to track, as they were publicly available at the time of the events being played and remains so today. That said, N0tail’s other sources of income are less obvious.

In terms of other positive revenue streams, N0tail doesn’t have much to speak of that has been discussed publicly. He has streamed on a fairly limited basis throughout his career, with just a few periods of regular activity spent streaming on Twitch.

It’s unclear what sort of sponsorships or salary money N0tail would have taken in personally from his time with OG. He is a founding member of the team and has remained a part of it since it became a larger company. OG has had a longstanding partnership with Red Bull, one that may have been very lucrative for the team, and it almost certainly helped to boost N0tail’s net worth given that he was a founding member.

What’s less clear is exactly how much of that money would have reached N0tail and how much would have gone into operational concerns for the OG esports organization. It’s likely that N0tail did benefit, but that at least some of that income was reinvested into OG.

It much also be considered just how much personal investment N0tail may have made into the expansion of OG, which has grown from simply being N0tail’s Dota 2 team to a multi-game organization that has sponsored teams and players based around the world and playing across a long list of games.

His ownership stake in OG, the organization’s valuation, and what pay he might be earning with the team as an executive in it are all contributors to his income and have continued to boost up N0tail’s net worth since his retirement from active competition.

Who is the richest Dota 2 player?

Measured by tournament winnings, N0tail is the richest Dota 2 player in the game’s long history. He primarily made his millions as a Dota 2 competitor for OG, winning some of the richest esports tournaments in history along the way.

The team famously won four Valve-sponsored majors that each had $3 million prize pools. These championships alone were worth nearly $1 million for N0tail. His bank account inflated significantly from there, with N0tail taking in roughly $5 million from the team’s back-to-back championships at The International 2018 and 2019, two of the biggest and richest esports tournaments ever.

Though all five players from the two-time TI-winning roster of OG are among the richest earners in esports and Dota 2 history, N0tail was the only player whose tenure with the team extends across that entire time. It was one of the brightest and most successful runs in Dota 2, as OG squads developed a reputation for defying Dota 2 betting odds and claiming the game’s biggest annual prizes by peaking at the right time each year. Much to the frustration of their competing rivals.

There’s much more to N0tail’s career than that run, however. The star player had successful runs with Fnatic and Cloud9 before the foundation of OG, and bounced in and out of competition after. He was also a top player in Heroes of Newerth even before he started playing professional Dota 2, and while that didn’t as much contribute to the net worth behind N0tail, it certainly played an important role in his development as a competitor that eventually led to his being the richest Dota 2 player of all-time.
