In a game where the cast of playable heroes is big and diverse, some characters in Marvel Rivals routinely win far more than others, with win rates that prove it.
Marvel Rivals has grown exponentially in the lead up to Season 1. With 33 playable characters already in the game and more already on the way, fans have a lot of options to choose from in terms of playing the game. Some heroes, such as Cloak and Dagger and Jeff the Land Shark, regularly appear in many matches. Others including Black Widow and Storm are only fleeting figures, barely played compared to their most-played competitors. Regardless of how often they appear, it seems that some heroes simply rack up more wins more often than do their counterparts.
From Marvel Rivals Season 0, certain heroes stand out for their exceptionally high (or low) win rates. These are the heroes to watch as well as how their standing may change with new patch adjustments.
Although picking a hero with a known high win rate isn’t a guaranteed success, it can help show where players may want to focus their attention, with Mantis, Hela, and Peni Parker topping current win rate listings.
Six heroes in Marvel Rivals stand out among the rest in terms of highest win rates according to the game’s official data. All have a win rate above 52.5% regardless of whether players use PC or console and competitive or quickplay mode. While there may be fluctuations when looking at individual lists, the same names tend to appear at or very near the top. Additionally, these heroes with the best win rates come from all three diverse classes in the game.
On the other side of the spectrum, a handful of heroes routinely win 48% of their matches or less. Interestingly, almost all of the least successful characters are duelists. This could speak to a skill level or just an issue several players have reported, which is that too many duelists are often stuffed onto a team. Though the role is mainly responsible for accruing kills, there is more to any team-based shooter like Marvel Rivals than just dealing damage, and having too many duelists can leave a team without critical resources and diverse abilities.
A number of different factors influence a player’s odds of winning a match other than just hero pick. These include general team composition, practice time with the hero, and any seasonal boosts or patched adjustments. It’s also important to note that all of the game’s heroes rank within relatively few points of each other from top to bottom, with win percentages ranging from 44% to 56%. With Marvel Rivals Season 1 now starting, fans could see their preferred heroes quickly rise or drop in win rate depending on the effects of various buffs and nerfs.
Heroes on both the top and bottom of the highest win rates list in Marvel Rivals may shift in ranking based on new buffs and nerfs in Marvel Rivals Season 1.
In the next patch, devs are giving several lower-ranked characters new buffs. Black Widow, Moon Knight, and The Punisher will all see attack improvements like increased damage or reduced recovery time for abilities. Strategist Jeff the Land Shark will receive an increased healing ability, while Squirrel Girl’s ultimate will have less health but will direct her squirrel army more efficiently towards enemy heroes.
Other, more successful heroes will also get their own adjustments for better or for worse. For instance, Hela’s base health is being cut after devs called her “a menace,” and Mantis’s passive movement boost will be reduced. Interestingly, the already high-performing Magik will be able to deal even more damage in the next patch when in her ultimate form.
Players can see how these new changes will affect hero win rates in Marvel Rivals on January 10 when Season 1 goes live. Perhaps a new costume or two could also help shake things up.
