Marvel Rivals players now have the chance to show off their skills as esports hits the hot new game in the upcoming Season 1 Championship tournament.

New third-person shooter Marvel Rivals officially launched to global success in early December 2024. Players have praised the game’s collection of different and unique heroes, seasonal theming, and commitment to a free-to-play model. Season 1 recently hit a new player count record of over 600,000. Following the success of the game and the original Season 0, Netease is now hosting a new tournament based around Season 1.

Here’s what interested players can look forward to from the Season 1: Eternal Night Falls Marvel Rivals Championship, as well as how to sign-up.

Marvel Rivals announces Season 1 Championship

The Season 1 Marvel Rivals Championship will take place between March and April and award up to $6,000 per top-ranked team.

The Marvel Rivals Season 1 Championship is split into seven regions: Europe PC/console, North America PC/console, Asia PC/console, and China PC. Each region will have a total prize pool of $14,500 divided among the top 16 teams. Teams ranking first will take home $6,000 while those placing between nine and sixteen only get $200 per faction.

Netease is implementing a combination of tournament formats for the Season 1 Championship. For each area, factions will compete in an best-of-one open qualifier where the top 128 teams directly advance to the double elimination stage. For teams placing between 129 and 512, they will move onto a similarly structured closed qualifier where the top 128 once again advance. The Marvel Rivals Season 1 Championship will then have three double-elimination stages: a best-of-three stage to pare down to 16 teams before a best-of-seven lower bracket and the grand finals.

The Season 1: Eternal Night Falls Marvel Rivals Championship runs from March 8 to April 6.

The tournament will take place over several weekends between March and April from 7 pm to 11 pm local time. Here are the important dates prospective teams should have on their calendars:

How to compete in the Marvel Rivals Season 1 Championship

Players who want to show off their skills in the Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls Marvel Rivals Championship can sign up through the official tournament page.

Interested parties need to have at least six players in their faction, all of whom must be above 16 years of age. Those who are 16 but still considered minors in their country will also need a signed legal guardian consent form. While teams are allowed to register for any of the seven regions (excepting mainland China), Marvel Rivals cautions against it to avoid lag issues. It is unclear if this extends the tournament invitations to other continents, such as South America. Additionally, players are strictly barred from using mouse and keyboard emulators as well as generally cheating in the varied contests.

Marvel Rivals fans who would rather watch than play can stream some of the Season 1 Championship content on Twitch or Youtube. They can then tune in for the March 29-30 and April 5-6 matches to catch some of the final and most high-stakes matches in the tournament.

Registration for the Marvel Rivals Season 1 Championship is already open and runs through March 8 at 6 pm local time. After that, factions have a limited time to continue practicing before testing their skills in tournament play. There may be quite a few more players than there were in the Season 0 tournament, so get ready to be tested.
