Joseph “Mang0” Marquez has been given a ban from streaming platform Twitch following his drunken behavior during the Beerio Kart livestream hosted by Ludwig.
The Beerio Kart World Cup event, organized by Twitch streamer Ludwig Ahgren, is now going viral for all the wrong reasons. While the event was all about drinking and racing in Mario Kart, things got a bit out of hand during the livestream when Mang0 was seen acting inappropriately while under the influence. In his X post, the Super Smash Bros. Melee player anticipated being banned from events and tournaments, and he wasn’t wrong about that. But things have since gone even further.
After being dropped by gaming and esports organization Cloud9, the pro player has now been banned from streaming on Twitch for an undisclosed period of time.
Mang0’s Twitch ban comes days after his alleged harassment of multiple female streamers at the Beerio Kart livestream, and those actions are certainly the reason for his being banned.
Neither Twitch nor the pro player has officially confirmed the exact reason for the ban, which is typical. Twitch rarely comments on the bans and suspensions of any of its streamers. So far, Mang0’s Twitch page displays the “temporarily unavailable” screen, indicating that he has been banned only temporarily and may yet return later. With Mang0’s Twitch ban being due to his behavior during the Beerio Kart stream, it most likely falls under Twitch’s rules against sexual harassment or sexually suggestive behavior involving other individuals.
The incident in question took place during Ludwig’s Beerio Kart World Cup stream. Ludwig had invited popular creators to join him for drinks and Mario Kart races, with console giveaways offered throughout the event. What started as a lighthearted event quickly turned sour when fans spotted a shirtless Mang0 humping streamer and content creator Maya Higa’s head on stream, followed by another clip where he used a cardboard cutout to similarly harass ExtraEmily.
Other clips circulating online only made matters worse, leading to a ban for the Super Smash Bros. Melee pro from all Mogul Moves events. He was also dropped by Cloud9, the organization he had represented for over 11 years.
Mang0 has over 500,000 followers on his Twitch account prior to the ban, and while this is surely a big loss, the pro player has made it clear via social media posts that he doesn’t plan on engaging with his fans for a while. It’s unclear how long the ban will actually last for, but given that this is only his second suspension and the phrasing on his Twitch page, the ban almost certainly isn’t permanent.
His first Twitch suspension came in 2021, when he was banned for three days after drunkenly performing a sexual act with an anime figurine on stream.
Mang0 is taking a social media break as part of his decision to focus on his recovery following the Beerio Kart incident in which he drunkenly harassed multiple female streamers.
In a lengthy apology posted to X, Mang0 took full responsibility for his behavior at the Beerio Kart event, admitting that he made several people uncomfortable and that there was no excuse for his doing so. According to Mang0, he has a long history of alcohol-related issues and said that this incident was serving as a wake-up call. He announced plans to step away from social media and to seek rehab and recovery, promising to come back only if and when he’s truly changed.
