Malaysia launches RedOne MLBB Women’s Championship as MWI 2026 qualifiers begin
Malaysia is gearing up for the upcoming MLBB Women’s International (MWI) with the launch of the RedOne MLBB Invitational Women’s Championship 2026. This tournament marks the official kickoff for the qualification pathway to the Esports World Cup 2026 for women athletes in the region.
Running parallel with the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 17, this tournament is a huge step for MOONTON’s ‘Two Champions, One Game’ vision for MLBB. The Malaysian women’s team is coming off a gold medal finish at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, signaling the regional strength of the nation.
Additionally, the MWI itself has gone through a rebranding to cement itself as an equal pillar of MLBB’s international circuit. Formerly known as the MLBB Women’s Invitational, the rebranded championship will be the ‘largest in its history’ with over 60 regions participating in Open Qualifiers. This also marks the first time teams from Western Europe are participating in the qualifiers.
MPL Malaysia Season 17 heats up ahead of EWC qualification
The seventh week of MPL Malaysia Season 17 saw Selangor Red Giants (SRG) become the first team to cement their place in the upper bracket of the playoffs. Along with them, Invictus Gaming, Team Rey, and Team Vamos have secured their places in the play-ins; however, the contest for the last upper bracket slot remains open.
Week 8 will also see three teams in the bottom half of the table continue to fight for the last two unclaimed spots in the play-ins. RRQ Tora, Bigetron MY by VIT, and AC Esports are still in contention, while Team Flash became the first team to be eliminated after the regular season.

All of this drama will unfold during the eighth week of the regular season, after which the qualified teams will battle it out for a share of the $100,000 prize pool as well as two slots for EWC 2026 Main Stage. The tournament offers plenty of wagering opportunities. Check out the top

Parallel to this, the RedOne MLBB Invitational Women’s Championship will play out in three stages from May 15 to June 6. The qualifiers will be played from May 15 to 20, followed by a League Stage featuring the top four Malaysian teams along with two teams that make it through the Singapore qualifiers.
The tournament will be capped off with the grand finals on June 5 and 6 to crown the champion, who also secures a slot to MWI at EWC 2026.
