What League of Legends Roster Changes Are On The Horizon?

The year is quickly coming to an end, and many League of Legends teams are looking to revamp their rosters, but which teams are more likely to see changes in the coming weeks?

League of Legends may be one of the most competitive esports games out there, but teamwork plays a huge role in every team’s success. Because of this, many organizations try to ensure they have players who play well together and can build proper communication over time. However, that doesn’t always work and changes are commonplace.

Why are League of Legends rosters changed so often?

League of Legends teams usually change their rosters because they aren’t effective, a player’s contract is ending, or the player just wants to explore other options.

A handful of teams try to stick together to strengthen their overall teamwork. A good example of this is Gen.G, a team that was considered the strongest in 2025. Because of that, the roster remained untouched going into 2026. The team also reached the 2026 Worlds knockout stage without losing a single match in the Swiss stage. This dominance has continued into the end of 2026.

Then, there’s T1. The team saw a roster change in 2025 when Zeus decided to leave the team for Hanwha Life Esports. 2026 saw something similar with Gumayusi leaving for the same team. Both of those members left because they wanted to explore options with other teams, even though they were definitely effective in their roles.

Fnatic is a completely different case. The team has failed to make its roster work multiple times. It was eliminated from Worlds without winning a single game in 2025, and it didn’t even qualify for Worlds in 2026. This is a good example of a roster that constantly changes because the players aren’t fit to play with each other on that specific team.

Finally, some players just leave because their contracts expire and they decide not to extend them. The reasons are usually not made public in this case. However, the door is usually open for them to eventually return later down the line.

Which Teams Will Make a Roster Change Before December

Polymarket traders think multiple teams will make roster changes before December

Traders on the prediction market Polymarket are throwing their hats into the fray in trying to determine which teams are likely to see roster changes before December. At the time of writing, Polymarket traders believe a handful of League of Legends teams will make roster changes in the coming weeks.

Some of the most popular picks include Anyone’s Legend and Ninjas in Pyjamas, both of which are at 96% and 95% implied probability respectively. Anyone’s Legend came into Worlds as its region’s first seed, which is why expectations were high for it. However, the team’s disappointing performance in the Worlds Swiss stage could lead some to believe that roster changes should be expected. Ninjas in Pajamas also hasn’t exactly achieved the level of success it strives for.

A roster change doesn’t necessarily mean that a player must be replaced. Something minor, such as adding another substitute player or even changing around the roles, would also count in this market. Worlds may be set to end on November 14 with the grand final, but eliminated teams have ample time to make roster changes before December.

☑️ My Take

Multiple teams are likely to make roster changes before the next year starts, but the market specifically takes into account the changes made before December. This suggests that teams such as Anyone’s Legend and Cloud9 will want to wait before making any major decisions, especially since there’s no rush.

On the other hand, Zeus from HLE reportedly isn’t extending his contract. His contract runs until mid-November, which means the timeline will fall in time to qualify for this market. Hanwha Life Esports hasn’t achieved the level of success that many thought it would. While Zeus usually performs well, he may want to join a more reliable team.

It just so happens that there are rumors that Gen.G’s Kiin will be leaving for mandatory military enlistment. That too, following the 2026 season. Not to mention, Kiin’s contract reportedly runs through November 16. There aren’t any confirmations for either, but banking on HLE and Gen.G to make roster changes before November could be logical.

Several European teams will also likely make roster changes following their disappointing performances. Karmine Corp is likely safe, considering the team made it to the knockout stage, but there are rumors that G2’s BrokenBlade, Fnatic’s Razork, and Fnatic’s Lospa will be switching teams.
