Kick updates chat ban

Livestreaming platform Kick has been working on multiple new updates and improving its mobile app recently, with the latest changes including chat ban appeals.

Kick has historically been creator-focused, but the platform is seemingly shifting to a more revenue-focused approach, as it has introduced ads and also stopped giving creators high-money deals. However, the platform is still developing new features and improving existing ones to provide a better user experience.

Some features Kick has recently introduced include a revamped mobile GO Live app and Daily Rewards for viewers. Kick has now announced some more features, with one of them being highly anticipated by users.

Kick's unban appeal process.

Viewers can now appeal their chat ban on Kick

This feature is something that several users have requested over the years, something Kick co-founder Eddie Craven noted in the announcement. What the feature does is simple, as it allows users who are banned in a chat to appeal the moderation. The users can defend themselves or simply state that they won’t violate the rules, and the streamer or their mod has the choice to either unban them or reject the appeal.

The effect of this appeal system appears to be largely positive, as it can give users a second chance. Previously, there was no official way to communicate after a user was banned from a creator’s chat. This feature can help users fix their behavior or explain their situation, and mods can act accordingly.

Streamers may also be positively affected by Kick’s ban appeal, as this is another moderation tool that can be used by their mods. Top creators particularly can benefit from this feature, as they have bigger communities and mods may make mistakes when banning users en masse. The system creates a formal appeal process that can add checks and balances to chat bans.

Kick updates languages on the app.

Kick releases new updates to improve user experience

A proper mobile app was once a major feature that many users believed was lacking on Kick, and the platform responded by delivering a solid app. However, Kick is continuously improving the app and has recently added the option for users to change their avatar, handle, and bio directly from the app. Users can also link their socials and check the active chatters list without having to open the Kick site.

Kick has also added a new language modpack for the following languages: Dansk, Eλληνικά, English (India), Melayu, Nederlands, Norsk, and Svenska. Kick Director Ethan Wright also revealed in an X post that the platform has also added a hover mode for when chats are moving too fast, revenue timestamps to show local time, and cleaner stream info.
