Kick increases clip duration limit, why that's great news for creators
Kick has introduced another big change to the platform’s clip functionality, and clippers can now share up to three minutes of videos from the platform’s streams with an increased duration limit.
Clipping is an important element in many streamers’ careers and success, with some content creators like Adin Ross even crediting Kick’s clipping program for making their videos go viral and bringing more recognition to their names and channels. The clipping program offers monetary rewards to viewers who clip videos and share them on other platforms.
Kick has now given clippers more freedom by letting them share longer, memorable moments from streams.
What is the clip duration limit on Kick?
In a post on social media, Kick announced that the platform has raised its clip duration limit from 60 seconds to 180 seconds.
That new 3-minute duration timing is now substantially longer than that of rival Twitch, which is capped at 1 minute.
Kick’s latest change is a big development for its creators, as the platform directly increases the limit for clips by three times over relative to before. This could allow clippers to highlight the full context of a moment, and it could prevent shares from having to include multiple clips.
The reaction to Kick’s announcement has been divided, with some claiming that 3 minutes for a clip is potentially overkill. Others however, especially those who clip streams, have stated that even if they don’t share full 3-minute videos, the editing work of clipping will now be significantly easier with more room available to play with.
Kick’s nurturing of clippers isn’t surprising, as there is already a

that rewards clippers monetarily for creating and sharing clips.

Kick is now leading the streaming space with the highest duration limit for its clips, leaving its main competitor Twitch notably behind. Fellow vidoe platform YouTube has the same limit as Kick, but YouTube’s shorts and Kick’s clips are fundamentally different.
This edge could be the motivation that more clippers need to start editing content on Kick rather than other platforms. That is likely Kick’s intention behind the increase, as the platform is inclined towards supporting its clippers and generally doing whatever it can to help boost the platform’s engagement. Streamers looking to grow and proliferate simply need to continue
making good content on Kick, and clippers will snap up and share whatever stands out.
The hope for Kick is that the new clip limit may encourage more viewers to visit the platform and watch full streams if the highlights they see on social media should interest them. Anything to creates more interest in the streaming platform across social media and has the potential to bring new users to it is likely to prove to be beneficial for Kick and its
streaming viewership
in the long term.
