Kick Creators Allege KPP Cuts, Ethan Wright Responds

Several Kick creators have taken to social media to claim that their KPP payments have been slashed, and Kick Director Ethan Wright has responded amid growing speculation about what is driving the cuts.

Livestreaming platform Kick’s biggest factor that contributed substantially to attracting creators was its lucrative 95-5 revenue split. Kick then introduced KPP, where partners would be paid hourly based on their streams, which made the platform even more popular because of the potential earnings. KPP has been criticized in the past by some creators because their earnings were reduced, and now some partners have come forward with claims of having faced drastic cuts.

These complaints started in early September, with starvtuber likely being the most prominent example. The streamer initially made an X post claiming their KPP had been reduced despite getting millions of views. They further elaborated that they had discussed this with Kick staff, but had received a reply that there was nothing wrong with their account and the earnings received were correct.

Soon, more Kick partners started making posts of their own, claiming their KPP was also being cut. Some alleged their KPP had been halved, while others claimed it was reduced even more. Ethan Wright replied to Immoral Flame’s X post, in which the streamer posted a detailed image about KPP. The Kick Director stated that the platform has “no intention of reducing KPP for creators”. He also assured everyone that he is investigating to see if the issues aren’t related to viewbotting.

Wright clarified that no KPP adjustments were made, putting to rest speculations about changes made in the rates. Ethan Wright also stated that KPP “will be reverting in 24-48 hours,” indicating that Kick partners found in the right may receive their full earnings. He also told Kick partners with organic viewership to contact him if their KPP has noticeably decreased.

☑️ My take: KPP is a massive incentive for partners, but Kick needs to be more transparent

Several creators moved to Kick in large part because of how well the platform treats its partners, particularly with the KPP earnings. However, this recent debacle shows how vulnerable partners are if KPP glitches or the system thinks organic viewership is botted Many creators who complained also claimed that they wouldn’t be able to make ends meet because they relied on their KPP for basic necessities: starvtuber is a good example of a Kick creator who highlighted better or similar viewership and still apparently faced reduced KPP.

Kick taking action against viewbotting is commendable, but the platform needs to ensure that innocent creators aren’t caught in the crossfire. Viewbotting is a massive problem in the streaming space, with all major streaming platforms taking action against botters, but the issue isn’t easy to eradicate. This is why, while Kick may want to amp up their efforts against viewbotting, the platform still needs to consider how it affects honest partners.
