Kick’s Eddie Craven Addresses Ongoing KPP Complaints and Viewbotting
Several Kick streamers have taken to social media to publicly air their grievances about their KPP apparently being reduced. Kick director Ethan Wright recently responded to the complaints, and now Eddie Craven has also discussed the issue for creators.
Stake-backed livestreaming platform Kick has made its place in the industry, in large part because of its higher revenue potential. While there have been one-off incidents where Kick has been criticized for reducing someone’s pay, recently there was bigger outrage when multiple streamers came forward claiming their KPP was cut. Ethan Wright denied KPP reductions and said: “KPP would be reverting in 24-48 hours.” Some creators are claiming that the issue still hasn’t been fixed, leading to Craven weighing in on the topic.
Eddie Craven says Kick wants to pay streamers more, not reduce KPP
In a stream, the Kick co-founder wasted no time and got to the meat of the issue instantly, claiming that “there has been no fundamental or underlying change to KPP unit economics”. He revealed that there had been technical issues in the last seven days. Craven claims this had caused data drops, and some KPP rates were incorrect.
Craven also stated that the platform has no intention of reducing KPP rates. He instead claimed that Kick wants to increase streamer payouts, and expressed that good creators should make high revenues. The co-founder also alleged that Kick has the best revenue in the industry, even claiming that payout is “19x your ad revenue”.

He then talked about viewers and how much a creator earns from KPP and stated that the real earnings will either be lower or higher than expectations. The co-founder elaborated that a KPP creator can be earning as high as $1,000 per hour, while another could be making just $10 an hour. He stated that speculating about the rates is futile, and unless a creator livestreams their entire broadcast, displaying their KPP, it’s impossible to gauge how much they are making.
Craven also talked about improving viewbot detection on the platform, revealing that Kick is continuously upgrading. He also said that the platform considers “mass tabbing” as gaming the system. This means that if someone has multiple tabs open with streams on different devices, that will be considered botting. However, the Australian maintains his stance that these changes are for viewbotting and don’t affect the KPP rates.
☑️ My Take: Creators are not fully convinced
Eddie Craven explained the situation well, but several creators are still critical of his reasoning. This is likely because, despite Ethan Wright’s comments earlier in the month, some are still saying their payout is low. Craven is repeating what Ethan said, which is why some creators are doubting his words. Some are even questioning if the issue was for a week and it was fixed, then why hasn’t the KPP picked up?
However, one thing to note is that Eddie was right in stating that KPP can’t be guessed, and there are several variables involved. It’s a possibility that there have been changes in the streams of the creators who are still reporting KPP cuts, and they can check their analytics. But if more creators come forward with claims of their payouts being reduced, this has the potential to become a bad look for Kick.
