Kanel Joseph says creators have become less original since Kai Cenat left
Kanel Joseph says creators have become less original since Kai Cenat left
Famous prankster Kanel Joseph has sparked a larger discussion about creators recycling content after claiming in a video that streamers stopped innovating when Kai Cenat went on a break.
Kanel Joseph has changed his content output significantly since his initial YouTube prank videos, and the creator is now more focused on IRL streams. He even livestreamed his multiple Streamer University 2026 auditions, where Kai Cenat repeatedly rejected him. Now,
Kanel Joseph has criticized the type of content streamers are broadcasting, sparking a debate over whether most creators are simply copy-pasting one another.
Kanel Joseph says creators have stopped innovating by repeating the same content
In a recent stream, Kanel Joseph
discussed his July broadcast schedule, calling it “action-packed,”
but said that he can’t share his ideas because they could be stolen. He elaborated that content creators don’t get enough credit, arguing that streamers have stopped creating original content. Kanel connected this statement to Kai Cenat, claiming that
creators have been making the same gaming content since the Mafiathon streamer stopped streaming.
He went on to say that streamers have repeated similar gaming challenges multiple times and need to come up with new ideas.

Kanel claimed that’s exactly what he is doing. He said he doesn’t need recognition, but that he’s doing things differently “every single day, every single week”. The streamer said communities need to “hold their creators accountable and demand better content.” He added that he also wants to do Minecraft streams, but claimed his idea will “elevate” the content.
Viewers and other users who reacted to the stream on social media were divided in their comments. Some claimed that Kanel was right and that watching similar content from everyone gets boring fast. Others focused on the Kai Cenat comparison, claiming that gaming streams were popular before the
Mafiathon streamer
entered the industry and arguing that Twitch is a gaming platform. Critics also pointed out the apparent irony that Kanel Joseph was walking around a Walmart parking lot while asking others to be innovative.

Kai Cenat recently returned from his break and started
auditions for Streamer University 2026. The auditions have since closed, and
the popular streamer is expected to announce the participants soon. Kanel Joseph also went on a
break in January 2026, but later returned to streaming.
He even appeared alongside Kai Cenat during the Streamer University auditions, but was rejected. However, he didn’t give up, instead turning the auditions into a series of comedy skits by auditioning three different times with different disguises. His latest comments on creator originality come as both he and Kai Cenat continue to generate debate and drama across the streaming community.
