That means you can still use Kalshi to trade on MLB playoff markets now with our promo code WINGGPREMAR, especially those that are dependent upon teams actually making the playoffs. Kalshi is renowned for its vast selection of markets — you can even speculate on whether Tom Holland will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, for example.

MLB markets on Kalshi

Right now, the MLB playoffs are wide open and you can trade on them at Kalshi or Polymarket. Traders are speculating on which teams will make the playoffs and the competitiveness of this is displayed in the “Pro Baseball Playoff Qualifiers” market which currently has 13 teams being rated as having at least a 50% chance of qualifying — there are just 12 places available.

If we extend that to 40%, which is still a decent chance with roughly 50 games to go, that number jumps to 15 teams that traders believe have a shot at postseason play. Some teams, like the Los Angeles Dodgers, are almost unanimous given their form so far.

Traders can take it a step further, too, by predicting who will be the ultimate pro baseball champion. The Dodgers lead there with 35.9% of yes trades. The New York Yankees are second, but they’re far below at 10.1%, with a smattering of other contenders close by.

When are the MLB playoffs?

The MLB playoffs are not going to occur until October. The regular season sometimes runs into the first week of October, but otherwise, it is the playoff baseball month. This season, it’s the opposite. The first couple of playoff games will be in September. They begin on September 29, a couple of days after the regular season ends.

Who could make it?

As mentioned, the playoff race is totally wide open. Currently, 15 teams have 40% yes votes on the Kalshi app. In the standings, 24 teams either currently own or are within 5.5 games of a playoff spot. Most of those teams near the back will fade down the stretch, but the field is uncharacteristically wide open.

The Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Guardians, Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, and Seattle Mariners are all within four games of the division lead in the AL. The field will likely be made up of six of those teams.

In the NL, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Atlanta Braves all hold massive division leads. Some of the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres, and Miami Marlins will likely form the wild-card trio.

How does it work?

The MLB playoffs are set up in a fixed bracket, so there is no re-seeding after the first round. It is all determined by regular-season record. So, if the season were to end today, here’s how the matchups would be in the first round:

The winner of the 4-5 matchup plays the top seed, and the winner of the 3-6 matchup plays the second seed. The winners of those series face off, with one team going to the World Series.
