Trade On The 2027 Oscars at Kalshi — Use The Promo Code WINGGPREMAR

At the Oscars, the Best Picture trophy is clearly the defining award of the night, and more often than not, the most memorable movie of the year wins it. Last year, after a tightly contested campaign, One Battle After Another took home Best Picture.
2026’s movie releases have seen plenty of blockbusters, particularly over the summer period, and the 99th Academy Awards, which takes place on March 14, 2027, looks set to be another close fight for the famous honor. But which movie is ultimately going to win?
And the Oscar goes to…Kalshi prediction markets suggest clear frontrunner for Best Picture

If you’ve been keeping up with movies this year, you’re likely of the opinion that Best Picture is currently The Odyssey’s to lose. Of all the excellent movies that have dropped to this point, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Obsession, and Project Hail Mary, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is currently the leader, perhaps no surprise given its reported $250m production budget.
The Kalshi prediction market reflects that. We could say it’s a two-horse race between it and likely Oscar contender Dune: Part Three, but truthfully, it’s a one-horse race right now. The Odyssey, per Kalshi traders, has a 58% chance of winning Best Picture. Dune: Part Three is at 13%, which is the next-best mark. It is followed closely by The Black Ball, a foreign Netflix film.
Here are the other options:
- Wild Horse Nine: 8%
- Digger: 7%
- The Adventures of Cliff Booth: 2%
Behemoth, The Debut, The Social Reckoning, Project Hail Mary, Fjord, Elsinore, All of a Sudden, Avengers: Doomsday, Artificial, Club Kid, The Death of Robin Hood, Disclosure Day, The Drama, Obsession, Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, and plenty more are at 2% or less, with most sitting below 1%, though these could clearly have a late surge during Oscar season.

There are a surprising number of movies not even listed:
- Backrooms
- 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
- The Dog Stars
- Resident Evil
- The Uprising
- Wicker
- Godzilla Minus Zero
- Primetime
- The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
- I Play Rocky
While these would be stunning winners, the fact that they’re not even on the Kalshi market clearly displays the sentiment among fans and traders alike.
Editor’s take on the Oscar predictions
Right now, it’s very hard to disagree with the Kalshi app traders. The Odyssey is about as good as it gets, with Matt Damon perhaps getting another Academy Awards nomination for his leading role. Even as a Dune: Part Three truther, the clear favorite for Best Picture right now is absolutely The Odyssey. The more interesting prediction, perhaps, is which nine films will get nominated alongside Christopher Nolan’s latest film.
Those nine could be some on the prediction market now. Here’s what might land the coveted Oscar nomination:
- The Odyssey
- Wild Horse Nine
- Project Hail Mary
- Obsession
- Dune: Part Three
- Fjord
- The Black Ball
- Digger
- The Invite
- Primetime
This, of course, is subject to change. Only half of those movies are even out yet, so it’s hard to make a prediction without having seen the movie. Still, these are well-positioned to snag a nomination to inevitably lose to The Odyssey.
