Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has added another record to his growing list of accomplishments before the end of Mafiathon 3, this time establishing a new record for viewership for a live Twitch stream.

Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 3 is going spectacularly well, with the streamer bringing in celebrities and breaking records like it’s all routine. He has collaborated with everyone from influencer Kim Kardashian to comedian Kevin Hart and basketball legend LeBron James. With new records established for the most followers and subscribers, the content streamer still had a day left of his Mafiathon 3 subathon event, and he used it to secure yet another record, this time for the greatest peak concurrent viewership on a Twitch stream.

Is Kai Cenat the first streamer to hit 1 million concurrent viewers?

No, Kai Cenat isn’t the first streamer to reach this milestone, but he is the first English-speaking Twitch streamer to reach 1 million concurrent viewers.

Spanish-speaking streamer Ibai “Ibai” Llanos Garatea has been the undisputed king of viewership on Twitch, consistently breaking his own records, similar to what Kai has been doing during Mafiathon 3. No English-speaking Twitch streamer had been able to reach a number of concurrent viewers similar to Ibai.

This changed on September 30 when Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 3 helped him to secure another record during the month-long event. Cenat’s latest celebrity guest, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, was featured when the stream accrued more than 1 million simultaneous viewers.

Some have claimed that Kai isn’t actually the first English-speaking streamer to reach this milestone, stating that Darren “iShowSpeed” Jason Watkins Jr. was actually the first. IShowSpeed is indeed the first English-speaking streamer to reach this milestone via livestreaming, but Kai is the first to do so specifically on Twitch.

What records did Kai Cenat break during Mafiathon 3?

Twitch streamer Kai Cenat’s latest Mafiathon was the third iteration of his subathon, and it saw him secure three major records for Twitch streamers: biggest following, most subscribers, and highest viewership.

Kai had promised viewers he would have his head shaved by LeBron James live on stream if he was able to beat his own Twitch subs record and hit 1 million active subscribers. The streamer managed to accomplish this feat within 27 days of his Mafiathon 3 event beginning, and he has since fulfilled his promise. During James’ appearance, he cut Kai’s hair as over one million viewers watched.

The viewership record was just the latest that Kai broke during the event, as soon after he became the most-subscribed streamer, he secured the title of the most followed Twitch streamer. All told, Mafiathon 3 is set to go down as the biggest streaming event in Twitch’s history, an event that has made clear Kai Cenat’s place atop the Twitch streaming totem pole.
