Kai Cenat reveals he’ll do another marathon with iShowSpeed

Twitch creator Kai Cenat’s recent return to streaming has been packed full of action so far with the launch of Streamer University 2026, and the American has now revealed that he is planning another marathon with Darren “iShowSpeed” Watkins Jr.
iShowSpeed and Kai Cenat announced a Minecraft marathon back in August 2024; Kai streamed the marathon on Twitch, while iShowSpeed was live on YouTube. The two creators were streaming in a Minecraft-themed house and were on camera 24/7. The marathon was a massive hit among viewers, garnering 18.8 million watch hours, according to Stream Charts, across both Kai and Speed’s broadcasts. Fans have been asking for a second edition of the marathon, and both creators now appear interested in a re-run two years later.

iShowSpeed was waiting for Kai Cenat to return from his break; another Minecraft marathon planned
Kai and Speed’s Minecraft marathon was one of 2024’s most viral collaborations, and it’s no surprise that both creators want to return with another similar event. Speed was asked about a Minecraft marathon 2 recently, and he stated that he wants to do it, but has to wait for Kai Cenat to return to streaming. Kai Cenat returned in July 2026 to announce Streamer University 2026.
The Twitch creator has since revealed that he’s trying to “lock in” the marathon, but iShowSpeed “is busy. This makes sense, given that iShowSpeed is currently livestreaming the FIFA World Cup 2026 matches from the stadium. Kai Cenat has also announced that he will host the biggest watch-along ever for the FIFA World Cup 2026 final on July 19.

iShowSpeed recently talked about the World Cup tour coming to an end and told his fans not to worry, as he will still be creating content. He revealed that he and “Kai got something coming up.” The YouTuber didn’t outright state that the two would be doing another marathon, but said they’d “be livestreaming for a long time” and he misses streams like that, which has only built the anticipation in the community.

Kai Cenat has also revealed the starting date for Streamer University 2026 but there have been two key changes to the roster. Imane “Pokimane” Anys and Maya Higa were announced as professors, but both are unable to attend the event. Pokimane made an X post revealing that her grandpa had passed away, and she wanted to spend time with her family. Maya Higa made a video explaining that she can’t go due to prior commitments. There are rumors circulating that Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter may join Streamer University 2026 as a professor, but nothing has been confirmed officially.
Kai Cenat commented on Maya Higa not being able to attend, saying he understood and that the streamer is a superhero; he hasn’t discussed Pokimane’s unfortunate circumstances at the time of this writing but the influencer may be replaced.
Our analysis
There was always hope among fans that Speed and Kai would do another Minecraft marathon, because the first one was a massive success. However, Kai Cenat’s break was unexpected, and many in the community feared that he might not return to content creation in any capacity.
However, Cenat’s second-half of 2026 is shaping up to be a memorable one — the Streamer University has the potential to be the streaming event of the year and it is also seemingly becoming an annual recurrence. He has also started multistreaming on YouTube. Speed is arguably the biggest streamer on YouTube, and collaborating with him can help Kai Cenat reach even bigger numbers on the platform in what is a mutually beneficial crossover.

Kai hadn’t revealed the start date of the event before applications were open, so applicants applied without knowing when they needed to be free. He has now revealed that Streamer University 2026 will start on July 15, 2026, and will last five days. It’s possible that other selected participants may also face challenging conflicts, and they will have to prioritize the commitment they want. This means it’s likely that viewers may see unexpected participants in the event due to roster changes.
