Kai Cenat returns to announce Streamer University

Kai Cenat has returned to the world of streaming after an eight-month hiatus, officially opening applications for the relaunched Streamer University Class of 2026. The surprise comeback comes after the popular streamer seemingly disappeared from the public eye, with little public activity during his extended absence.
Streamer University was announced in a cinematic trailer posted to social media platforms X and Instagram on 8 June. The trailer immediately caught the attention of many viewers, due to its Harry Potter theme: painting Streamer University in a similar light to Hogwarts.
The trailer directed aspiring streamers to apply directly through the Streamer University website. Kai Cenat, one of the biggest names in streaming, hasn’t streamed on his official channel since October 2025. While he has made selective appearances across other media platforms and livestreams, this announcement marks his return to his own channel, which has since amassed a record-breaking 20 million subscribers. The milestone makes him Twitch’s most-subscribed streamer, surpassing rivals such as IShowSpeed.
Aspiring streamers can apply as students, professors and club directors, with all roles open on the website.
The Streamer University website outlines what successful applicants can expect to learn through the program. Aspiring creators will have the opportunity to develop their content creation skills, while prospective professors can apply to teach classes in areas where they have relevant experience or expertise. Meanwhile, those selected for club director roles will be responsible for organising, leading, and managing campus clubs throughout the Streamer University program. Kai Cenat’s return to streaming
Kai Cenat has always been a popular and controversial figure in the streaming world, reaching the absolute peaks of Twitch. However, his abrupt and sudden departure from the world of streaming at the end of 2025 took many viewers and colleagues alike by shock. The primary reason for the departure was credited to his breakup with longtime girlfriend Gabrielle “Gigi” Alayah. In a postfollowing the announcement of the relationship ending, Cenat simply stated: “I’m single. I will never be another relationship again”.
Since then, he had disappeared from the public light, and many viewers did speculate that the breakup had a more profound effect on the iconic streamer than he would publicly admit. His public appearances were brief, and his future seemed to be in question for several months. He would admit that burnout played a factor into his absence, explaining in an interview with TMZ in January that he was focusing on other ventures, including the world of fashion.
In late March, he made one rare public appearance, accompanying iShowSpeed and his family at the streaming event Balling League, by iShowSpeed. He was not present for any interviews or engaging in any of the events, but his presence alone sparked new discussion among viewers and fans about what his future could potentially be.
This began to spark rumour that a return may be imminent in light of increasing public appearances. The appearance at Speed’s events seem to cause a ripple effect. He then appeared shortly afterwards, on his friend Fanum’s stream as a part of the AMP group, for a Call of Duty 7 stream. His friend Rakai then teased that Kai could return, and the announcement of Streamer University confirms this as a reality now.
Currently, Cenat has yet to reveal how many applicants will be accepted into Streamer University or when the 2026 program will officially begin. However, the opening of applications signals two major developments for the Twitch streaming community. First, Streamer University content is set to return. Second, Kai Cenat’s long-awaited return to regular streaming could be imminent.
