Kai Cenat Reportedly Becomes First Streamer To Broadcast From Inside a Volcano
Twitch star Kai Cenat caused a major stir online when he announced his Exploring the Unexplored IRL series — and he has now gone live from the first country, Iceland, streaming from inside a volcano.
IRL streaming is one of the best ways to gain exposure and become a bigger creator. Two of the biggest current examples are Darren “iShowSpeed” Watkins Jr. and Rangesh “N3on” Mutama. Speed has been a great asset to IRL content by traveling to different countries and introducing viewers to unique cultures and landmarks. N3on started as a nuisance streamer, but has since evolved into a wholesome creator who will also apparently be seen in GTA 6.
These were just two examples, but their popularity explains why someone who is already a popular streamer like Kai Cenat would want to expand into the IRL streaming category. The Twitch streamer has since gone live from Iceland, with his maiden Exploring the Unexplored broadcast having plenty of memorable moments.
Kai Cenat broadcasts IRL stream despite harsh weather, brings his chaotic energy to Iceland
Cenat was set to IRL stream from Iceland on September 25, but he announced in an X post that professionals have recommended he postpone the broadcast due to windy weather. He then went live on September 26, and something fans noted was that the streamer was using a wrist phone holder to read chat messages similar to the one iShowSpeed uses.
The biggest thing about the stream, and a record that Kai Cenat set, was reportedly becoming the first to stream from inside Þríhnúkagígur physically. For reference, this is the only volcano in the world where tourists can descend into the magma chamber and walk around.
However, the first highlight of his Iceland stream occurred just seconds after Kai went live, as he was stream-sniped by a fan passing by in a car. The creator competed in a tug-of-war match against a Viking, ultimately losing to the local. He also drank mead to get an aim boost, but failed to make an axe stay on the target.
Kai then panicked after he got inside his vehicle and mistakenly thought he was in the wrong car. The Twitch streamer then announced that he will be holding in-person applications in Europe for Streamer University 2027, while US creators will need to apply online. He also showed off a Vivet travel bag and the things he was carrying with him during the broadcast.
In an unfortunate turn of things, Kai Cenat had to ask his driver to stop and check on some fans who got into an accident while following the streamer. He also tried sheep testicles and loved the taste of the Icelandic delicacy. In another element similar to Speed, Kai Cenat also met an Icelandic model who viewers were comparing to Marlon “Mar3LG” Lundgren Garcia. This is something Speed is known for, as he doesn’t just interact with his fans and celebrities, but also shows off the engagement in streams.

There were several other wholesome and chaotic moments in the stream, such as Kai Cenat getting physical with his cameraman, his hat being stolen from his head after he was swarmed by a crowd, and fans jokingly commenting “RIP” when the streamer was on a helicopter. The streamer also tried to catch sheep, which was successful despite falling into manure. However, the biggest reveal in the stream may have been how much effort Kai Cenat has put into his first IRL broadcast.
Kai Cenat showed off that his Iceland stream was substantially larger in scale, as he had two helicopters. One that he was riding in and another that was recording footage. He also didn’t lose internet connectivity while inside the volcano, which Speed has listed as a crucial element in his IRL stream preparations. The Twitch streamer also stated that he’s interested in doing a world tour with Speed, stating “that’d be one of the biggest streams of all time”.
☑️ My View: Kai will need to work to emulate iShowSpeed
Kai Cenat isn’t new to the IRL streaming category, as he has his Mafiathon, Streamer University, and even the recently debuted annual Mafia marathon stream. Despite this, it appears the Twitch streamer is expanding his IRL content by potentially following in iShowSpeed’s footsteps. He has even named the series “Exploring the Unexplored”, which is essentially the exact formula of Speed’s IRL content.
However, it doesn’t seem likely that Cenat will be able to easily reach the level of success Speed has had with his IRL streams. This isn’t because Kai Cenat isn’t massively popular; instead, it’s because Speed’s viewership is built through global IRL content. Kai Cenat’s viewership, on the other hand, is particularly used for subathons and similar events, where the streamer is doing larger-scale collaborations. That’s not to say Kai Cenat’s Exploring the Unexplored series won’t be a success, but building up his reputation in this area will take time, money and effort — all things the American has.
