Kai Cenat and Darren “iShowSpeed” Watkins Jr.’s much-awaited Minecraft marathon is now live, with the pair revealing the event’s rules. While the two haven’t been faring well in their mission, fans are invested to see whether they can complete the marathon, which is being streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

Here is a look at the rules for Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed’s 2026 Minecraft marathon, as well as some of the memorable moments so far.

What are the rules for Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed’s Minecraft marathon?

Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed surprised fans when the duo announced that their Minecraft marathon would require defeating four Minecraft Hardcore bosses, including Ender Dragon, The Wither, Elder Guardian, and The Warden. This led to many speculating how long it would take the streamers to complete the marathon, as they have been away from gaming content and are concentrating on other endeavors, such as IRL, collaboration, and marathon streams.

Kai Cenat shot back at critics, stating that he is still a good gamer. The two streamers then announced the rules when the marathon went live: Kai and Speed have 10 days to defeat all four bosses in a single Hardcore run. If the duo fail to defeat the bosses within the allotted time, then Kai and Speed will still have to defeat the four bosses on Hardcore, though they can do it across separate runs.

The second condition makes things easier and more efficient, as it’s significantly harder to complete the first condition. It’s not feasible for Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed to continue the marathon for too long, which will be the case if they have to defeat all four bosses in a single run. This was also a concern among fans, as they joked about Kai and Speed turning old and still not finishing the Minecraft marathon.

Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed’s biggest Minecraft marathon highlights

The marathon has been ongoing since August 7, and the two streamers have spent hours playing Minecraft, only to end up dying at the hands of bosses or other enemies. This makes their first goal of defeating all four bosses in a single run highly unlikely. Kai and Speed got as far as 8 to 10 hours in some runs, even building a raid farm, but ultimately died because Kai Cenat wasn’t holding The Totem of Undying.

One of the duo’s more successful runs was ended by The Elder Guardian, who wiped out the run. Speed also died at the hands of a Piglin in the Nether, which caused both streamers to get emotional. iShowSpeed and Kai Cenat then took a break from Minecraft after roughly three days into the marathon, eating KFC and strolling through the park, discussing the struggle with the Minecraft marathon and acknowledging that the two need to get on the same page when it comes to performance.

The marathon has also taken a physical toll on the streamers, with a noticeable change in posture. Some viewers have commented that playing a game continuously the way the two are playing likely isn’t healthy. Kai and Speed’s attitude towards the marathon has also noticeably changed, as they were more optimistic about being able to complete the marathon challenge, but now seem more realistic about being able to beat the game.

There haven’t been any traditional collaborations during the marathon, but iShowSpeed and rapper Drake went back and forth about Speed’s fanous habit of barking. Rani “StableRonaldo” Netz also called Kai Cenat during the livestream, sarcastically congratulating him on the progress, before hanging up — this led to Kai throwing his phone. However, the most notable moment may have been rapper Kanye West sharing a clip of the Minecraft marathon to his X profile.

Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed’s Minecraft marathon is ongoing, and Kai even said in an X post that he is ready to quit given their struggles. He also joked that he would get his security guards computers, who can join the Minecraft server to protect Kai and Speed in-game. So, it seems that the pair’s efforts on Minecraft will continue, but they look unlikely to reach their end goals.
