James Bond Casting Rumors Continue — Has Jack Lowden Been Chosen?

James Bond hasn’t been cast for the next era just yet, but rumors swirl, and the prediction markets continue to shift. Daniel Craig’s run as the chaarcter ended in 2021 with No Time To Die, and from then on, the film world has wondered what actor will take up the role next. The next film has a confirmed director in Denis Villenueve, but there is no cast.
Obviously, the most important one is the character of Bond himself. Everyone from Idris Elba to Jacob Elordi has been pitched as a contender in the last five years. At times, various actors have been the leading contender. Rumors indicate that an announcement will happen very soon, and a new name has been tagged in those rumors. That name has also skyrocketed on Kalshi’s prediction market, with traders feeling increasingly confident over who will be the seventh 007.
Kalshi traders believe Jack Lowden James Bond rumor
Jack Lowden is perhaps best known for his role in Slow Horses, the Gary Oldman-led television series. The rumors that he will be the next James Bond began to circulate when Oldman made public comments around the Scot.
Via Deadline, Oldman said, “It’s been rumored that he’s on the shortlist. We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.”

Kalshi traders think Oldman is going to be right. Lowden has skyrocketed up to a 55% chance of landing the role, which is well up from 3.5% at the beginning of August. We covered the prediction market for the next James Bond around that time, and there were so many others with better chances.
Callum Turner was the frontrunner then at 36%, but he’s dropped to 35%, while Lowden has surged past him. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jacob Elordi were the biggest threats to Turner in August, but aside from Turner, no one’s threatening Lowden, according to Kalshi traders.

Here’s the current percentage chance at the prediction market:
- Jack Lowden 55%
- Callum Turner 35%
- Jack Barton 17%
- Jack O’Connell 11%
- Tom Francis 8%
- Harris Dickinson 7%
- Nicholas Hoult 6%
- Jonathan Bailey 5%
- Josh O’Connor 5%
- Damson Idris 4%
- Aaron Pierre 3%
- Henry Cavill 3%
- Jacob Elordi 3%
- Paul Mescal 2%
In other words, it’s a two-man race right now on Kalshi. We don’t have a firm date on when the actor will be cast, but it does feel rather imminent and should certainly be by the end of 2026.
☑️ My Take
It is almost impossible to determine who’s going to get cast in a role unless there is a credible leak, and even then, it’s not always true. At the moment, all we have are some comments from Gary Oldman, but that is the first indication in months that an announcement is imminent.
Kalshi traders certainly seem to take the story credibly, which is why trading volume has skyrocketed in the last few weeks, but I can say that I don’t buy the hype surrounding Jack Lowden. Compared to some alternatives, he is certainly a lesser-known actor, but that could actually count in his favor.
I did note that Callum Turner is consistently among the favorites at Kalshi — he seems like a sensible choice, even if he wouldn’t be my ideal pick.
