iShowSpeed world cup pull over

Darren “iShowSpeed” Watkins Jr. is a self-proclaimed Cristiano Ronaldo fanboy, so it came as no surprise that he was ecstatic following Portugal’s draw against Colombia in the World Cup group stage that secured their qualification. However, his celebrations took a dangerous turn when Miami police pulled him over.

iShowSpeed has been consistently streaming the FIFA World Cup 2026, which aligns with the streamer’s partnership with Fox, FIFA, and YouTube. While the YouTuber has been broadcasting family-friendly content and even brought his dad and brother to matches, he recently found himself in the limelight after an encounter with the police. While celebrating Portugal’s performance, he put himself at risk by climbing out of a moving car, leading to the traffic stop.

iShowSpeed stands through car sunroof, prompting police stop

Clips of the incident have gone viral on social media, showing iShowSpeed standing through the sunroof of a moving car. The dangerous stunt prompted members of Speed’s crew to tell the driver to pull over. A Miami police officer approached the vehicle once it had stopped on the side of the road. The officer asked how everyone was doing, but the audio that followed was inaudible. Moments later, viewers could hear the officer describe Speed’s actions as “extremely unsafe,” adding that he understood the streamer was “trying to party,” but that “you can’t do that”.

Speed responded, “We ain’t trying to party,” and sat back down inside the vehicle. The officer did not appear to issue the streamer a citation or any other penalty. Instead, he simply asked whether anyone had any questions. Speed thanked the officer, wished him a good night, and the group continued on their way. This also wasn’t the first time iShowSpeed has had an encounter with law enforcement. During a previous meetup in Dallas, police warned him that he could face a rioting charge after large crowds of fans gathered around him.

Viewers were divided over Speed’s reaction, with some arguing that he seemed more inconvenienced by the stop than appreciative of the officer’s concern for his safety. Others pointed out that iShowSpeed has performed similar sunroof stunts in other countries without facing legal consequences. In response, some users argued that traffic laws vary from country to country and that Miami’s road safety regulations shouldn’t be compared with those elsewhere. Despite the incident, Speed has continued livestreaming the FIFA World Cup 2026. He was most recently seen helping Japanese fans clean up the stadium following Japan’s defeat to Brazil and has further streams planned for the remainder of the tournament, which is running until July 19.
