iShowSpeed explains the preparation behind his IRL streaming setup
Darren “iShowSpeed” Watkins Jr. has revealed how he prepares for his massive IRL tours, sharing the details that go into making his streaming setup perfect.
iShowSpeed is arguably the most popular IRL streamer in the world — and not for nothing. The YouTuber has visited several countries, interacted with his international fans, and livestreamed it all to his viewers. This is a great way to exchange cultures and has boosted iShowSpeed’s following substantially.
Clearly, these IRL tours aren’t easy, despite how laid-back Speed is, and significant military-level planning goes into them. He even managed to
stream underwater earlier this year, showing how he pushes the limits of technology.
iShowSpeed reveals internet is the most crucial element of his streaming setup
In a recent stream, iShowSpeed discussed the preparations that go into his IRL streams. The YouTuber revealed that the most important element for him is the internet. A bad internet connection can cause his livestream to stop or buffer, and so
he has a method to ensure he doesn’t lose connectivity.
“Sometimes I will have my cameraman go through the whole route of my whole stream literally have him drive around or walk around the whole route just to see if the bitrate is fine,” he said.
“I will have him see if the whole internet is fine and if it’s fine good to go if it’s not we have to reroute the place. Internet is really the key cause I’m a live streamer and I can’t live stream without no internet.”
This is a background production step, but it
highlights the complexity of IRL streaming
and ensuring that each broadcast is seamless.
iShowSpeed discusses his stream preparations.
Viewers who see the end product may assume that IRL streaming can be done spontaneously with little planning. However, the reality is different. iShowSpeed has a full team that ensures everything from his chosen path to his equipment is good to go for every livestream.
While iShowSpeed’s productions are on a large scale, other IRL streamers also need to plan these elements, or they can face unforeseen issues. It is this level of professionalism that has seen
iShowSpeed’s net worth
reach its highest levels in 2026.
Fans were quick to react to iShowSpeed’s revelation, with some questioning whether he could utilize Elon Musk’s Starlink to ease the production efforts. Others were more sympathetic, stating that modern streaming is no less stressful than making a movie with considerable time and technology constraints.
Regardless of the views of fans, iShowSpeed is continuously getting more famous and breaking records during his tours. iShowSpeed recently released a
new song for the 2026 World Cup, and has also announced that he will be
touring during the football tournament.
