Iansan materials in Genshin Impact for character, talent ascensions

Genshin Impact Version 5.5 is set to release a new four-star electro character named Iansan, and pre-farming her materials early on before she arrives could save some hassle later.
Iansan is one of the six ancient heroes of Natlan and is confirmed to be the next playable character in Genshin Impact. Just like Varesa, she hails from the Collective of Plenty tribe and will debut as an electro character. Early information suggests she’ll be an attack buffer with some healing abilities, which already has some players comparing her to Bennett.
The Genshin Impact 5.5 beta is in full swing and leaks about Iansan continue to surface. Among them are details on her character and ascension materials, meaning players can start farming early to get her to level 90 as soon as they pull her.
All Iansan ascension materials
Ascending Iansan to level 90 involves gathering Vajrada Amethyst Gemstones, Dracolite, Sentry’s Wooden Whistle, and mora.
Here’s the full breakdown of all materials needed for each level for Iansan:
- Level 20: 1 Vajrada Amethyst Sliver, 3 Dracolite, 3 Sentry’s Wooden Whistle, and 20,000 mora
- Level 40: 3 Vajrada Amethyst Fragments, 2 Ensnaring Gaze, 10 Dracolite, 15 Sentry’s Wooden Whistle, and 40,000 mora
- Level 50: 6 Vajrada Amethyst Fragments, 4 Ensnaring Gaze, 20 Dracolite, 12 Warrior’s Metal Whistle, and 60,000 mora
- Level 60: 3 Vajrada Amethyst Chunks, 8 Ensnaring Gaze, 30 Dracolite, 18 Warrior’s Metal Whistle, and 80,000 mora
- Level 70: 6 Vajrada Amethyst Chunks, 12 Ensnaring Gaze, 45 Dracolite, 12 Saurian-Crowned Warrior’s Golden Whistle, and 100,000 mora
- Level 80: 3 Vajrada Amethyst Gemstones, 20 Ensnaring Gaze, 60 Dracolite, 24 Saurian-Crowned Warrior’s Golden Whistle, and 120,000 mora
Iansan’s ascension wouldn’t be complete without Vajrada Amethyst gemstones. For players who have already used up their stock on other Electro characters, farming more can be a costly grind. These gemstones are exclusively obtained by defeating certain bosses and redeeming their drops, which always requires resin.
Leaks also point to a new Natlan local specialty coming in patch 5.5. Dracolites will be part of Iansan’s ascension, but where to find them is still unknown since they’ll be in the new map arriving next update.
Ensnaring Gaze is a boss material used to level up such characters as Chasca and Iansan, and is obtained from the Tenebrous Papilla boss.

Contention talent books are mainly found in the Blazing Ruins domain in Coatepec Mountain, in the Natlan region. They’re only available on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays, with each run costing 20 resins. The number of books given depends on the player’s world level.
Denial and Judgment comes from the Scattered Ruins Trounce Domain, where players take on The Knave. These runs cost between 30 and 60 resins and can give a mix of materials as rewadr, including Denial and Judgement, Silken Feather, and Fading Candle. Players can use the crafting table to convert any other materials if needed.
