For those who missed the first Monster Hunter Wilds open beta, fear not – you now have a chance to participate in the open beta 2 before the game officially drops, and we can tell you both how and when to sign up.
Monster Hunter Wilds is the newest game in the popular Monster Hunter franchise and has built up some significant hype since its original announcement in 2023. When the first beta test launched, over 460,000 players signed up to participate. Capcom and producer Ryozo Tsujimoto have now announced that fans will get another chance to try out the game in February. They cite giving those who missed out the chance to play previously as well as allowing previous players to test out the world one more time before its official launch.

The next Monster Hunter Wilds beta will contain new content in addition to that which was available in the initial trial, as well as open for all in two different time periods.
Both fans who did and did not participate in the first Monster Hunter Wilds beta have something to look forward to in the new trial, including added monsters and new bonuses.
The main difference between the first and second beta tests is the addition of the Gypceros Hunt. Players can complete all of the original story quests, and they can also battle the crafty wyvern known to fake its death to get the upper hand. Anyone taking on the Gypceros should be careful not to underestimate its poisonous abilities. More added content will be revealed as the open beta 2 release date draws closer.
Players who participate in open beta 2 will receive two different rewards. The first is the same weapon/Seikret available from the first beta, which notably will not be made available again for returning participants, only for new players. The second bonus is a new item pack containing raw meat, several types of bombs, dung pods, and more.
Importantly, any game progress made in the beta will not transfer to the full Monster Hunter Wilds game when it releases. This was also true for the original beta period. However, players will be able to export their character creation data when the time comes, so it won’t be an entirely clean slate.
Much like the first version, players can access the second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta on a number of gaming platforms, and now with more time to play. Signing up to play on any platform is as easy as accessing the official Monster Hunter Wilds
website
and proceeding from there.
The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta 2 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players currently have the ability to join one of two timed periods of game: from February 6 to February 8, 2025, or from February 13 to February 16, 2025. Both trials begin and end at 7 pm PST on the respective day indicated.
Notably, PS5 players don’t need to have PlayStation Plus and Xbox players don’t need Game Pass Core or Ultimate in order to participate in open beta 2. This will change when the final version of the game releases. Those seeking to play can load the game one day prior to its launch.
Monster Hunter Wilds officially releases on February 28, 2025, and will be taking into account player feedback from the betas while featuring many more monsters than those seen thus far. Those players who simply can’t wait for the full game release at least have the open beta 2 to look forward to between now and then.
