how to use the Kick chat clipping feature

Kick is making clipping even more accessible for viewers who want to share their favorite moments quickly. With the new Kick chat clipping feature, users can create clips directly from chat and share them across other channels. Here’s how.

Even though the Kick Clipping Program is fairly recent, it has quickly become a big part of the streaming platform. It’s easy to see why the program is so popular among both creators and viewers as it benefits both sides. Streamers enjoy discoverability that comes with clips and clippers often get paid by streamers to increase their reach on other platforms like X.

Considering the feature’s popularity, Kick is making it even more easy to create clips mid-stream with a chat command.

How to use Kick’s chat clipping feature

Users can create a clip on any stream by simply typing the “/clip” command while the stream is still live.

Those who want to create a simple 30 seconds clip can do it by typing the plain /clip command in chat when the moment happens. This would record the last 30 seconds of the stream. For longer clips: Type “/clip <duration> is the command you want to use. It’s worth noting though that the longest clip on Kick is 180 seconds. Duration above that will result in failure to clip a moment. The same command can be customized to add a title to your Kick clip. Simply add [title] at the end of the duration with your desired name. If no title is provided the clip will adopt the name of the stream.

Once all of this is done, clippers will be given the option to share and download the clip. From here, follow the same steps you would when clipping a stream using the traditional method.

Why can’t I create a clip on Kick?

The option to create a clip on Kick is only available to viewers who are part of the Kick clipping program.

The clipping option isn’t available for all, which is why viewers can’t create clips out of a stream. The good news is that the process to apply for the Kick clipping program is simple, and anyone can apply through the application portal available on Kick’s Discord.

Those who are part of the Kick clipping program and still can’t create clips may want to double check clip duration. Kick only allows clips up to 180 seconds at the moment. a clip is longer than that, you’ll need to trim it down to stay within the platform’s limit before publishing or sharing it.
