Most Pokemon TCG Pocket players are missing a card or two, and tracking the rarer ones can be more difficult than it initially seems. But with our advice, you should be able to see your missing TCG Pocket cards and figure out which pulls you need to complete your collection.
In the months since its official debut, Pokemon TCG Pocket has released over 600 cards for players to collect. These are available in a number of ways to pull these cards, from opening packs to collecting special promo or premium cards. With so many cards of varying rarities available, very few have collected them all, and most more than likely have a number of holes remaining in their set.
For most cards, it’s relatively easy for players to see what they’re missing. Tracking rarer cards can require a little more patience and even a bit of luck.
Pokemon TCG Pocket makes it easy to see missing cards from the base set in your collection for each expansion, but it’s trickier to find rarer ones.
When navigating to the “My Cards” tab, players have two ways to view their cards. The base view shows every card obtained in order of acquisition as well as the number of cards obtained. However, the Pokemon icon toggle on the right-hand side of the screen minimizes the collection and reveals spots for missing cards. Instead of the card, players can see a number that, and when that’s tapped on, the game reveals more information about the card that is missing.
Unfortunately, players looking to find missing cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket at a rarity of one-star or higher (excepting four-diamond cards) won’t be able to see them with the “My Cards” toggle. This is because the tab only shows missing cards from the base set, and alternate arts are excluded from that number. The only way in TCG Pocket itself to see how many rare cards one is missing is when getting a new card. As the new addition goes into the set, players have the option to scroll through the full view of the booster pack and see the number of each card they don’t have.
For those willing to go off the app, several users across social media platforms have shared different spreadsheets to track collections. At a base level, the offline trackers usually include all card rarity types. Other features can include achievement trackers and analyses of best packs to pull from to get new cards. Importantly, any offline tracking method found is not going to be officially associated with Pokemon TCG Pocket. Players will also have to manually input all cards collected, requiring more work on their part.
Players have several options to obtain the cards they don’t have yet in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
From the beginning of Pokemon TCG Pocket, players have had two additional options to pulling cards from packs: Wonder Picks and the Pack Point Exchange. Wonder Picks allow for a chance to pull one of five cards from another user’s recent pack. Within the game client, players can see if there are any cards they need and decide to spend rechargeable stamina in their pursuit. Meanwhile, players can also earn Pack Points for every set that they open to spend in the Pack Point Exchange on a card for their set.
The newest way to collect missing cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket is through trading. Every player starts with five hourglasses to use for trades that refresh every 24 hours. They can then “spend” three-diamond and up cards to get Trade Tokens. While players can freely exchange basic cards, anything higher than that requires the additional use of the new trading currency.
Trading does come with its own complications. Players are currently only able to trade up to f0ur-diamond rarity cards from Mythical Island and earlier, making it impossible to collect some of the rarest cards in the game via trade. Furthermore, there is no way to tell other users what card one may be looking for other than abstract communication. This makes trading with online-only friends nearly impossible.
While the Pokemon Company hasn’t announced the date of the next expansion yet, most rumors place it at the end of February. For all but the most dedicated and lucky of players, it seems there will always be missing cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
