Time to check in! How AFK Airport Security is a unique slot by NoLimit City
NoLimit City is famous for their slot games that push the boundaries. That means game with extreme levels of volatility, as well as games based on themes that are occasionally controversial, but eminently playable. Quirky games are the hallmark of the popular slot provider, and their newest release AFK Airport Security may just be the epitome of that.
This slot game has a most unusual setting — an airport security checkpoint. You won’t find any myths, legends, animals or monsters here. Instead, you get the whole modern airport experience, with delayed flights, suspicious-looking luggage, body scanners and the dreaded moment security pull you to one side to take a closer look at your luggage.
If you think that sounds a weird premise for a slot, then you would be right, but it is also the kind of slot that NoLimit City excels in creating,
However, if you think this is a relatively mundane game, given a fairly unusual wrapping, then you are wrong. AFK Airport Security has a dozen individual gameplay modifiers. Not only that, they can be used in conjunction with each other to create big value wins. It’s an ambitious aim so does AFK Airport Security manage to get the green light to fly?
Let’s take a closer look.

Welcome to the Stress of Air Travel!
Every traveller knows the dread of airport security.
You’ve packed your bags carefully, got your passport and boarding pass, arrived early for check in and then the queue for security starts. Empty your pockets, remove your shoes, walk through the metal detector…
Beep!
Check your pockets, look confused, walk back through metal detector…
Beep!
You pat yourself down looking bemused, then, remember you put on a belt with a metal buckle. Remove your belt with people giving you dirty looks, walk through the metal detector again…
Beep!
Get taken to a spot nearby and patted down and searched before you are allowed to collect your luggage.
Sounds like a nightmare, and it is. But it makes for an unerringly entertaining and imaginative slot.
Part of that success is NoLimit City’s quirky humour, something they have used in previous releases such as Supersized. The game is packed with it from the security officers scanning passengers, luggage moving through the security checks and every game mechanic is named after a part of the process.
And this is what makes AFK Airport Security such a unique game; certainly we have never seen one quite like it.
AFK Airport Security Game Mechanics
AFK Airport Security looks somewhat standard. There is the common 5×3 reel layout and with it is 243-ways to win across the reels. All good so far. You win by matching symbols across adjacent reels from left to right and there’s a Wild symbol which can substitute for any of the regular symbols in the game. So far, so good.
However, most slots feature a couple of key game mechanics. AFK Airport Security boasts 12. That is what immediately makes this slot very different to other crypto casino games that you will have come across.
As you play a session, the game builds an increasing number of bonus game mechanics, which then become a permanent feature of the bonus round. Each new mechanic unlocked remains active, which means later rounds can see them interact with each other, often in unusual and productive ways.
Rather than following the example of other NoLimit City slots such as Tombstone Begins or Fire In The Hole, which have one central mechanic that powers the game, AFK Airport Security offers a vast array of unlockable interactive features that can combine in hundreds of different combinations.
These features become most evident when the security systems activate at the airport. These can be triggered in both the base game and bonus round and are:
- Quarantine, which removes selected low-paying symbols from appearing on the reels.
- Full Body Scanner, upgrades lower-value symbols into premium symbols.
- Not My Bag, creates mystery symbols that all reveal the same symbol.
- Arm Slides, sees expanding Wilds across an entire reel.
- Class Upgrade, applies multipliers of x3, x5, x8 or x10 to selected symbols.
- Extra Seat Space, splits symbols to increase winning ways.
- Full Row Booking, splits entire reels into additional symbols.
- Lithium-ion Batteries, replaces symbols with Wilds while splitting adjacent symbols.
- Turbulence, shuffles all non-winning symbols while keeping their modifiers.
- “Random” Security Search, transforms symbols into Wilds.
- Air-mile Multiplier, applies a multiplier of up to x10 to every win.
- Connecting Flights, pays winning combinations in both directions.
Each of these features can be triggered on its own, and offers good value when that occurs. However, when several features are triggered at once, this can create a fabulous chain reaction on the reels, which offers unpredictable and potentially profitable results — it is for this reason that we expect streamers such as Trainwreckstv to soon be recording huge wins at the airport.
AFK Airport Security – Three Free Spins Rounds
Those dozen features make for an exciting base game and bonus rounds, but there is also the additional appeal of a trio of free spins rounds. The more bonus symbols you land on the reels, the greater the value of your free spins.
Economy Class Spins
Land three bonus symbols and you get seven free spins, with one randomly selected feature unlocked for the entire bonus and when triggered it can also award the player an additional free spin.
Business Class Spins
Four bonus symbols landed on the reels which sees seven free spins awarded but with two randomly selected features available from the start, which gives a greater potential for better returns.
First Class Spins
Land the maximum five bonus symbols on the reel and you get First Class spins, which has three active features, creating the best chance to land some of the better value wins with more chance of features combining to increase the value of a win.
The Clever Bit — Feature Stacking
The best aspect of AFK Airport Security is its feature stacking in the bonus round. Once a feature is active in the bonus round, then it remains active and if other features are triggered, they too remain active and can interact with each other.
When this happens, a single spin on the reels can produce some wildly unpredictable results and makes the game so appealing as when the features stack, a small win can quickly change into a much larger one. Given the stakes that the top casino streamers use, this could well see some massive returns close to the 19,693x max win.
The Fast Track Option
Just like at the airport, you can fast-track your way to a bonus by applying any of the bonus features in the game at an added cost per spin. They are:
- Bonus Booster – This increases the chance of triggering free spins by guaranteeing a bonus symbol on reel 2.
- 3 Mile High Club – This allows a spin with at least three active features guaranteed.
- 12 Mile High Club – As for the 3 Mile High Club but this time all 12 features are activated on that spin.
The top prize in AFK Airport Security is 19,693x your stake, which is a very generous return, especially with a maximum bet of €100 per spin. If you are planning to utilise the buy bonus then we suggest you try the AFK Airport Security demo first to ensure that it is worth your time and money.
Our Verdict
AFK Airport Security is everything you have come to expect from a Nolimit City slot — and a bit more. This is an innovative, feature-packed slot which offers a more complicated set up than standard games, but which is also immensely enjoyable. Its high volatility means patience is required to get the best out of the game, but its distinctive design and innovative gameplay make for a truly unique slot experience. It is already available at many crypto casinos, including Roobet.
