How to make subs cheaper with new Treasure Trains on Twitch
How to make subs cheaper with new Treasure Trains on Twitch
Twitch has introduced a new feature called Treasure Trains, a new type of Hype Train that will allow viewers to gift subs at a lower cost than what is normally available.
Fans support their favorite streamers in various ways, such as following their Twitch channel, promoting them to friends, or donating using Twitch’s own currency in the form of bits. Subscribing to a streamer’s channel or gifting subs is also a common way of supporting content creators. If a fan subscribes to a channel or
gifts another viewer subs, they’ll be charged a recurring monthly fee.
The charge depends on the chosen tier but ranges from a typical monthly payment of $4.99 all the way up to $24.99 based on that subscription tier. Fans happily pay this monthly cost to support their favorite streamers, and now there is a way to potentially lower this cost using Twitch’s new
Treasure Trains feature. Here’s how it works.
Treasure Trains allow cheaper gift sub bundles
Viewers will get a discount of 35% on gifting subs when a Hype Train reaches a sufficient level and a Treasure Train is activated, but Twitch has set some rules around the new feature.
On May 8, Twitch introduced the new Treasure Trains feature
in a blog post. A Hype Train must reach level five before a Treasure Train can be triggered. A notification will be shown on the chat banner regarding a Treasure Train being open, but it’s easy for many users to miss. This is why it’s paramount to keep an eye on the banner in the chat that will display what train is activated at the time.

Viewers will be able to get a discount of 35% when they gift subs to friends during a Treasure Train. The discount is only available for the duration of the train. Fans won’t be able to use it when the Treasure Train offer isn’t visible on the banner. There is a further caveat as viewers must purchase five or more Tier 1 single-month subs in order to activate the effect. The discount also can’t be combined with any other offers or discounts.
The discount will likely be split between Twitch and content creators, but streamers can opt out of this new feature. Doing so will ensure Treasure Trains don’t appear on their channels.
This is an exciting feature for many and some fans are happy that the platform is looking out for viewers with such a discount. There are requirements for the discount to be activated, but the feature is ultimately beneficial for both streamers and their fans on Twitch.
