Skins and other cosmetics play a huge role in League of Legends, and those feeling generous will want to learn how to gift LoL skins to friends.
League of Legends, the MOBA developed by Riot Games, is easily the most popular game in the genre. Originally released in 2009, the game has continued to thrive with its free-to-play formula. The many in-game purchasable cosmetics give the studio behind the game a steady stream of revenue to continue bringing new updates to it.
In addition to purchasing skins for their own accounts, players can also gift purchased skins to friends. Players can use two primary methods to gift skins to their League of Legends friends. The first is in-game, while the other is less streamlined but still doable.
Players can gift their friends skins via the in-game League of Legends client store.
There are some mandatory prerequisites before players can gift skins to their League of Legends friends. First, the two players should be in-game friends for at least seven days and they must have accounts from the same region. This requirement is doubled to 14 days for accounts based in either Turkey or Brazil.
Additionally, the receiver and gifter’s accounts can’t have ongoing bans or suspensions actively applied to them. Finally, the gifter must have an account level of at least 10.
With all these prerequisites met, players can follow the below steps to gift League of Legends skins to friends:
The gifter must have the required Riot Points, or RP, ready in their account in order to purchase the skin. The receiver must also have the champion the player is gifting the skin for. For example, if a player wants to gift the Ruined Miss Fortune skin to a friend, the receiving friend must have the Miss Fortune champion unlocked prior to receiving a skin for that champion. Additionally, the receiving player can’t already have the skin unlocked, as you can’t own more than one copy a given skin or other cosmetic.
It’s important to note that players can gift and receive up to 10 League of Legends skins every 24 hours. After reaching that limit, players must wait until the next day to get or gift more LoL skins.
Players can gift Riot Points to their League of Legends friends from the in-game gifting system or by using a prepaid card.
The in-game gifting screen gives players various options to choose from. One of those options is to purchase Riot Points for a friend. After selecting the receiving friend and the option to gift RP, the giving player selects the amount of RP they want to gift. Players can choose the same payment options to gift RP as they would when buying the currency for their account. The options include credit/debit cards, PayPal, Skrill, and more.
One of those options is to enter a prepaid Riot Points card’s code. Using Riot Points to gift friends the League of Legends currency or skin as we’ve described is often the easiest route to take, but for those who don’t have a League of Legends account or who live in a different region that the receiving player, they can purchase a prepaid card for their friends. The friend can then redeem the card themselves from the League of Legends client to buy whatever it is they might want.
It’s important to ensure the prepaid card is of the same region as the receiver. Additionally, more expensive cards give players more Riot Points, so the card should provide enough currency to buy the skins or cosmetic items you want your friend to receive.
