How to get the best outcome for Spoils of War in KCD2
Spoils of War is one of the more involved side quests in KCD2, and players may want to know the best outcome for it.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
is a game built on consequences. The grounded approach to roleplaying means players must carefully think about their choices. Without
KCD2 mods, players only have a limited amount of saves. While “save-scumming” is a tried-and-true approach among KCD fans, some players may just want to get the story beats through.

Spoils of War is a side quest with lots of moving parts. Food is a valuable commodity for the mildly impoverished Henry, and that’s the primary conflict of this quest. There are many paths to acquiring food and loot, most of which involve violence. The best outcome may surprise the murder-happy players.
How to get the best outcome for Spoils of War in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
The best outcome for Spoils of War in KCD2 involves handing over Henry’s own food, either through hunting or from previous adventures.
There are hunting spots for boar, deer and wolves around the village outskirts. With some patience, Henry can get enough meat to satisfy the soldier’s requests. Bows and arrows, especially laced with poison, make the hunt go by faster. Fortunately, poisoned arrows do not affect the quality of the meat. Dogs are also very helpful for hunts when paired with the Houndmaster perks.
Alternatively, players on their second run may just bring food beforehand. Looting whenever viable and buying food when it’s cheap will help resolve this quest faster once players get to it. Players should store these resources on their primary horse, as carrying all that around runs the risk of losing it.
Spoil of War can get violent in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
The premise of Spoils of War involves Henry encountering a group of soldiers requisitioning the peasants for food and valuables.
The villagers try to explain that they have nothing left to give, but the guard captain refuses to hear their complaints.
Henry is then tasked with loading up the soldier’s cart with supplies. The quest makes it seem that the only way to gather resources is by investigating the villagers. That typically means taking away food and wealth away from the already impoverished players. Those who side with the peasants morally may dislike having to take away resources. Of course, mercenary minds may just kill the villagers for their own “best outcome” in KCD2 (more material spoils in exchange for innocent lives).

An alternative, which can be done at any point during the quest, is fighting back against the soldiers. Doing so can be risky, and get the villagers (or Henry) killed. Spoils of War is a perfect slice of a quest that showcases why KCD2 is immersive. Despite the objectives seemingly “railroading” the player, they have more agency than they may realize for handling situations. Instead of resorting to violence, the best outcome involves some sleuthing and generosity.
Of course, the “best outcome” in KCD2 for Spoils of War depends entirely on the player. Regardless, this method grants some solid rewards without any danger to Henry or innocent lives.
