Prestige Black Rose Katarina is the centerpiece in League of Legends’ batch of Noxus-themed skins, though some may be a little frustrated at the cost.
With the success of Arcane, Riot has been investing resources into building up the lore of the Noxian Empire. Warlord Ambessa Medarda recently became the latest LoL champion with her own novel to boot. The dev team also announced that to kick off the new seasonal model, fans would be visiting the land of Noxus. Now, it seems Ambessa’s enemies in the secret and frightening Black Rose are right behind her.
League is introducing a number of new themed skins in January to go along with the new Noxian season. Here’s how players can get their hands on every new skin, including Prestige Black Rose Katarina.
Most of the new Black Rose skins are part of the paid seasonal battle pass, with the other two obtainable in other ways.
Noxus Act 1 launches with a new seasonal pass. There are three different tiers of pass ranging from free to premium. For players who care about skins, they can get the most by investing in the paid seasonal pass for 2,650 RP. The following new reward Noxus skins will be available upon level completion:
Other paid seasonal pass rewards include orbs, icons, and Ancient Sparks. Players who want even more, like the Prestige Masque of the Black Rose Katarina chroma or a handful of mythic essence, should look into the 3,650 RP pass.
Those who don’t have the RP to spare can still get Elise’s Masque of the Black Rose skin through the free pass. She unlocks at level 20 and is also available with the paid pass. The free version of the pass also offers a random skin valued at 1,350 RP or lower.
Finally, Masque of the Black Rose Ezrael will be the only Noxus skin available directly in the shop. Interested players can expect to spend 1,350 RP.
The Prestige Masque of the Black Rose Katarina skin is only accessible by reaching level 55 in the seasonal pass.
In previous seasons, fans had the option to separately get most or all of the skins that were “free” through the battle or event passes through the reroll pool. They could also usually earn enough RP during the timeframe to offset the cost. Moving forward, it seems that this is no longer the case.
Katarina’s skin is clearly the highlight of the new collection as it is the only Prestige in the line. Additionally, Riot clarified in late November that new Prestige skins would no longer come alongside a basic form. This is to add an extra layer of exclusivity to the look, similar to how the Exalted skins will only be available through the Sanctum.
Beginning on January 9, players have approximately seven weeks to earn the Prestige Black Rose Katarina skin and any other Noxian outfits. Given Riot’s new recommitment to exclusivity, they may want to jump on the paid pass lest her skin not come around again.
