After T1’s upset loss at the ongoing MSI tournament, G2 Esports was the next team to fall before reaching the lower bracket final. LYON looked extremely good against the LEC team, but does it have what it takes to take down arguably the strongest LCK team currently?

Match analysis
It’s no surprise that HLE is basically the definition of a superpower team. While its performance against BLG left much to be desired, the skills of players such as Gumayusi, Zeus, and Zeka are undeniable. Delight has also come into his role as the team’s support player, even if Kanavi could sometimes be a bit of a shaky jungler.
On the other hand, LYON’s performance is usually a coin toss. Berserker usually isn’t able to carry much, despite being the team’s ADC. Fortunately for the LCS team, Saint is a powerhouse in the middle lane, especially when paired with Inspired and Dhokla in the jungle and top lane. However, the team doesn’t usually win games off of skill gaps. Instead, it utilizes a better strategy to play with the enemy’s mind, as happened against G2 Esports in this tournament.

The clean 3-0 sweep LYON is coming out of should give it the confidence required to be aggressive from the start. However, HLE will likely play more carefully than usual because of its recent experience against BLG. Siding with Hanwha Life Esports to get most of the first bloods should be a good idea, especially since it has secured the additional goals more often than LYON in this tournament.
As for the winner, there’s a strong chance that HLE will walk away as the victor. LYON may have defeated G2 Esports, but HLE has a more grounded team that’s likely to play around objectives more. Not to mention, much of the match will likely be decided in the laning phase between Gumayusi and Knight, where Gumayusi is much more reliable.
Still, HLE’s Zeka and Kanavi have a very limited champion pool, which could mean that LYON may get one map at least. This would make taking the over on 3.5 maps a potentially good idea, especially considering the high potential return.

Hanwha Life Esports vs LYON betting picks & predictions
LYON has done well to make it this far, but the team hasn’t really prevailed against an LCK or LPL team. BLG was able to comfortably dismantle it, and there’s little reason to believe HLE won’t do the same. While LYON is likely to perform better in this match compared to its loss against BLG in the upper bracket, the ultimate result will likely be the same.
Best picks:
- Total maps to be over 3.5 @ 1.86: HLE doesn’t have a large champion pool, which could give LYON a potential advantage in this best-of-five,
- HLE to get first blood @ 1.68: HLE’s loss against BLG will likely teach it to play more passively, which could help it counter any aggressive plays LYON may pull in the early game.
