Summon the God of Thunder in the exciting Hammerstorm slot
The Hammerstorm slot by Pragmatic Play takes the concept of the Norse God of Thunder and delivers an enjoyable and exciting experience to bettors, with the potential for players to really win big.
The Norse God of Thunder Thor is famous for multiple reasons, whether it’s because of his appearance in comics, shows, movies, games, or just his mythological feats. With him easily being one of the best-known mythological figures, it makes sense that he might serve as the subject for an exciting slot. Hammerstorm is exactly that, as the game revolves around Thor’s thunderous hammer and its Norse setting.
What to know about the Hammerstorm slot
The Hammerstorm slot takes place in a Norse setting in which all sorts of Viking-related weapons and armor can help players to win. The slot plays on a 5×3 with a whopping 40 paylines, ensuring that players have more than enough chances to see success across the reels.

Its RTP is around the 96.50% mark, which is standard for most modern slots, and the game’s high volatility means that players shouldn’t expect hits to be too frequent. Though the hits that do land have a real chance of being substantial. This uncertainty is enough to help slots streamers build anticipation with their viewers and, as the max win of 10,000x the initial bet means that any spin could change the player’s fortune for the better.
This is especially true since the initial bet for Hammerstorm can range from $0.20 to $240 per spin, letting both casual players and hardcore bettors enjoy the slot in equal measure.
Mythology-based slots aren’t really new, even if developers usually lean toward Greek mythology. But Hammerstorm stands out for being faithful to its theme. Whether it’s Thor’s trusty hammer Mjölnir serving as the slot’s wild symbol or the Viking-inspired ships and houses in the background, Hammerstorm is perfect for fans of Norse mythology or the mighty Thor.
Hammerstorm slot features and mechanics
Hammerstorm stands out among slot games in part because it utilizes three types of lightning symbols to add bonuses to the respin round.
Thor’s hammer is the game’s wild symbol, which can act as a substitute for any regular paying symbols. The exceptions include all of the lightning and coin symbols, as well as the Thor symbol. Hammers are crucial to helping players achieve smaller hits, as they work toward activating the respins feature.

Speaking of the respins feature, it’s activated by rolling red, green, and purple lighting symbols. Chests of the same three colors are located above the slot’s grid, and every matching lightning symbol cracks the associated chest slightly, ensuring that there’s a chance of the respin feature triggering with every lightning symbol. In addition to their contribution toward triggering the respin feature, they also carry values between 0.5x and 10,000x the initial bet.
Hammerstorm also has a Thor symbol that can appear on the leftmost reel. When it lands alongside at least one lightning symbol, the associated chest instantly breaks, triggering the respin feature.
The respin mode is where the slot’s gameplay changes completely. Players begin with five respins and see a 2×2 collection zone appear on a random position on the grid. Lightning and coin symbols fall on the grid and are scooped up by the symbol, which Thor represents. While coins represent monetary value, lightning symbols are collected and stored. Collecting enough lightning symbols increases the zone, giving players extra respins with each growth.
Lucky players who roll enough lightning symbols can stack their free spins to thirty, or even more.

While the collected amount is given as the final payout when the player runs out of respins, some modifiers can potentially help increase the chances of winning big. These modifiers require players to think back to the three chests in the base game, which trigger the respin feature. The chests that break before the bonus game determine the modifiers players can expect:
- The red chest gives the double modifier. It adds gold versions of lightning and coin symbols that pay twice.
- The green chest gives the expand modifier. It expands the grid’s maximum capacity from 5×5 to 7×7.
- The purple chest gives the spins modifiers. This has the most potential, since it lets players potentially get +1 spins during the respin feature
More than one modifier can activate at once, taking the potential winnings even further.
Reel spins in the base game can be enhanced for those players who don’t mind paying extra. The first such bonus buy requires 25x the bet amount and guarantees at least one Thor symbol on every spin, while the second buy sets players back 50x the bet amount to ensure at least five lightning money symbols on every spin.
Ultimately, Hammerstorm is an enjoyable and potentially rewarding slot for those looking for something new. While the respin feature could seem like it has the potential to drag, it’s excellent for building up hype as the max win multiplier constantly looms with the promise of profits. Available for play on Stake, it’s an easy slot to recommend.
