GTA 6 for Game of the Year? Prediction market says so

GTA 6 - Game of the Year 2026?

Once it was announced, many people pegged GTA 6 as a Game of the Year contender. Bigger doesn’t always equal better, but this title is going to be the biggest game to release in a very long time.

It is slated for release on November 19, 2026. This comes after multiple delays, which is why Kalshi is offering prediction markets on the actual release date. If that date sticks, it will still arrive years later than many fans initially expected.

Regardless, when it does, expect everyone and their brother to play it. Is that going to win it Game of the Year? According to the prediction market, yes, even though it hasn’t come out yet, and other contenders have.

Whenever a game is delayed multiple times, it’s usually not a good sign. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a good example. It was delayed and ended up being bad. GTA 6 has been delayed plenty of times, which belies some risk.

Ultimately, the prediction markets are not worried about it. On Kalshi, GTA 6 has a 50% chance of winning Game of the Year. That’s incredible given two facts. First, it’s not out until months from now (so no one has played it), and there are six total finalists for the award.

The other games currently listed on Kalshi include Resident Evil Requiem (14%), Crimson Desert (10%), Saros (5%), Pragmata (4%), Cairn (less than 1%), and Slay the Spire 2 (less than 1%). There are others, but like GTA, they’re not out yet.

Unfortunately, there is no history to determine whether or not this is a good pick. We don’t know how The Game Awards really feels about the franchise. The Game of the Year award began in 2014, which is one year after GTA V was released.

GOTY GTA VI

Still, given its popularity and the track record that Rockstar Games has, specifically with the Grand Theft Auto franchise, it’s a pretty good bet that the game will be nominated for Game of the Year.

But winning it? Predicting that now is certainly bold when Resident Evil Requiem, Crimson Desert, Wolverine, Fable, and Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight are also among the contenders.
