GTA 6 delay fears cool as Take-Two CEO reaffirms November release date
GTA 6 delay fears cool as Take-Two CEO reaffirms November release date
There’s been plenty of speculation about the GTA 6 release date. When a game is delayed as many times as this one has been, that shouldn’t be a surprise. Games are often announced without a release date. Then, they get a release window after which a final date is revealed.
But when that date is pushed back more than a couple of times, there’s reasonable doubt about every date announced thereafter. With GTA 6’s release date, that’s what happened. We’ve known for a while that November 19 is the release date, but that hasn’t stopped speculation.
What the Take-Two CEO said this week about it, though, should put most of the speculation to rest.
GTA 6 release date is holding steady for November 19
Though there’s still probably a little bit of skepticism, we can all rest a little more assured that GTA 6
won’t be delayed again. The November 19 GTA 6 release date that was announced a while ago is still the current goal.
Per IGN, CEO Strauss Zelnick reiterated that GTA 6 was not going to be delayed again. “I’ve been saying for some time that the release date is November 19,” he said. “We obviously reiterated that today, so we feel really good about it.”
The
prediction markets
have reacted accordingly. Before this announcement, the odds were a little more 50/50 that the game would be released after November 19 or not. Now, there’s an overwhelming consensus on Kalshi.
Before November 2026 has dropped to 5%, and before December 2026 has surged to 89%.
Obviously, there’s still
a very minor chance that the game is delayed, but for now, all signs point to November 19. Strauss also said he believes the company is in for a “breakout year” thanks to “the most anticipated entertainment property of all time.”
The developer has reportedly spent over $1 billion on this game, so they need it to be successful like so few other games before it. If it keeps delaying it, anticipation will start to dissipate, and frustration will mount, thus hurting the bottom line. So, we fully expect November 19 to remain the release date.
