Global Esports vs EDward Gaming Match Analysis
Global Esports are one of the better teams at VCT Champions 2026, so it’s quite surprising to see them in an elimination match this early into the tournament.
They were sent down to the lower bracket by Team Vitality, the team that would go on to win against LOUD and qualify for the playoffs. The Vitality vs. Global Esports series was also very close, with the third map ending 11-13 – if one more round had gone GE’s way, they could have easily won the match.
Overall, Global Esports are in pretty good form and look like a contender to break into the playoffs.
On the other hand, we have EDward Gaming, haven’t looked in the past few months. The times of them winning international tournaments are long gone. EDG finished 9th – 12th in the Esports World Cup, and even bombed out of VCT China Stage 2 in 9th – 10th place. That’s unacceptable for a team of such calibre, so their form in Champions is heavily in question.

EDG got steamrolled by LOUD in their opening series at this event, losing 8-13 and 5-13 in two maps, so it’s hard to give them a chance in this series.

EDward Gaming may be the more experienced roster, having won VCT Champions before, but they’re in very rough shape. On the other hand, Global Esports are playing completely fine and just got a little unlucky in their opening series. The winner of this matchup seems pretty clear to me.

☑️ My Take: Global Esports Have This in the Bag
I think this will be a very comfortable win for Global Esports. They’re the better team on paper, and are also in much better form. Even the home crowd isn’t enough to save EDG here. I have no doubt they’ll win this series, but the match winner market only offers 1.32 odds. So, going Global Esports -1.5 seems like the more attractive option, especially when GGBET is pricing the market at over 2.0 odds.
