About The International 2026
The International is the biggest Dota competition of the year, and this edition of the year’s championship is being held in Shanghai, China, from August 13 to August 23.
For this competition, the aim is one: to battle for the Aegis of Champions, the shield awarded to the last squad standing after battling through the strongest competition. There’s also a baseline prize pool of $1.6 million, the lion’s share going to the winning team.
It will be 10 days of action featuring 16 teams competing across three stages: the group stage, the elimination round, and the main event.
In terms of The International 2026’s schedule, the group stage takes place from August 13-16, where the Swiss-style system is used. The top three teams will advance to the playoffs, those in 4th to 13th positions advance to the elimination round, and the remaining teams are eliminated.
The elimination round is, as the name suggests, and only five teams proceed; the rest are eliminated. Then comes the main event from August 20-23 and the double-elimination bracket is used. Here is where two losses mean elimination. The remaining two teams battle in the grand final for the top seat. The prize pool for the competition right now is approximately $2.87 million, and you can read our TI15 power rankings to get an idea of the main teams.
