Gen.G vs. Invictus Gaming are one of the headlines for Friday’s Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage opener. The team that has never won Worlds faces a veteran squad looking to return to the top. Gen.G are the favorites, but this year has seen some crazy results. Check out my predictions whilst considering the

Is This The Year For Gen.G?
We say it every year, but Gen.G are perennial favorites, if not the outright favorite, to win this year’s
League of Legends World Championship. After a disappointing First Stand and missing
MSI
completely, the multi-time LCK champions dusted themselves off and roared back to life in the LCK, winning the playoffs in emphatic fashion. This, perhaps against them, sets up the narrative: will they choke on the biggest stage?
On the other side of this best-of-one, Invictus Gaming is a veteran squad returning to Worlds, looking to carry momentum from the back end of LPL Split 3.
Make no mistake: they may not be in their prime, but iG still has enough talent to pull off an upset. The former world champions finished third in the Split 3 playoffs, pulling off a miracle run and nearly taking down Anyone’s Legend, the eventual winners, in the process.
This best-of-one is unlikely to start with an upset. iG does have players like Rookie and TheShy who can make magic out of nothing. However, Gen.G is unlikely to start its world collapse in the
Swiss Stage. Their issues often come in the tournament’s later stages.
Best Gen.G vs Invictus Gaming Bets
There are a few markets on GG.BET that I believe are worth looking into:
Take Invictus Gaming to upset Gen.G at 4.07 odds. This is one of the riskier bets, but in a best-of-one, anything can happen.
Bettors can also take total map kills under 25.5 at 2.21 odds.
Take Gen.G to win and total map kills under 27.5 at 2.23 odds.

☑️ My Thoughts
While it looks tempting to back Invictus Gaming at 4.07 odds, I think Gen.G will stomp this series. In the Swiss Stage, Gen.G has been unstoppable. The LCK champs have not dropped their opening game of the Swiss Stage since the format changed. On top of that, they have only dropped one game, losing to AL at Worlds 2025. Other than that, complete dominance.
It’ll be interesting to see what route iG goes. Do they stick to standard picks or try to take a page out of MVK Esports’ book and go off-meta to throw Gen.G off their game? It’s worked in the past. TheShy completely outclassed Bin at Worlds 2023 with picks such as Graves and other ranged champions.
Sadly though, I don’t think iG are going to pick up this one. I would go with Gen.G to win and total kills under 27.5.
